Re: [ROM] Juicy Rhodium_W R2 [SENSE UI][XDA_UC]

Hi Juicy,

Sorry but hopefully last bug to report (hard to remember them all)..

When linking the contact list with Facebook it will of course replace all yoru contact's display photo's with their Facebook profile picture. This is fine but when calling or recieving a call from a contact with a linked photo their photo no longer shows as their caller ID. But then when going back into their contact card their photo is still their Facebook profile photo.

I've tried removing the photo, unlinking the contact, re-linking etc but didn't resolve this.

I don't everyone is experiencing this but it's done it for me even after a hard reset.

I'm not saying it affects general usage performance, but it most definitely affects boot speed. How could it not? Even with Vista and 7 Microsoft got rid of the Windows logo during boot because it decreased the boot time, and that was a non animated image on a PC.

If you make a mistake, it could hurt the stability of your phone. And all that risk for a pretty boot screen that you see what, once or twice a week? Personally, when I have to reset my phone, it just put it on a desk and let it do its thing, I don't gawk at it while it boots ;)

Thanks Juicy, awesome ROM.

Noticed a bug with the Music tab. It worked fine for the first couple of days, but now every time I try to play a song or change songs or hit Library it cycles to the "Launching HTC Sense...." screen

i love start up, each his own though. not sure how you can screw up loading a bootscreen or if by chance you do it would cause any issues/stability.

Re: [ROM] Juicy Rhodium_W R2 [SENSE UI][XDA_UC]

evidently the orange windows screen can be changed by replacing the welcomehead.192.png file. the file needs to be read only and hidden in order to show up on boot. this file is on this rom, it just isnt visible by default using file explorer. still not sure what file to alter for an animated gif.

Same way ppl screw up changing icons on the taskbar...I've seen that mess up the display of the home screen and have heard of it preventing the phone from working properly...

The phone is looking for a dll with certain properties. If it isn't where it expects or those properties aren't quite right it could barf.

Right below that it says:
There are no more download slots available for free users right now. If you don't want to become a premium member, you might want to try again later.

Just try back later.

Bug #7 or 8 I think... lol

When the ring setting is set to full and as well the in-call volume is set to max using the hardware buttons. Later on the phone is set the phone to vibrate and I make a call out and suddenly the in-call volume drops to half way and I have to again adjust it to max using the hardware buttons. It doesn't seem to remember the in-call volume settings while changing from ring to vibrate etc.

When you mean "fixed" do you mean the flipping? It technically isn't a bug, just HTC's way of showing how animated the phone is.

i ask coz, there are Cabs floating around that claim to fix this
They didnt work for me, jsut wondering if anyone else had any experience with it
also, i ran MiightMIke ROM before, and that didnt have the flipping going on, maybe a Manila 2.5 thing??

Yes this feature is standard on 2.5. You will have to search for a cab to fix it or find a regedit.

Personally I like the feature.

Something semi-related here too...

At night I switch to silent mode in the Settings | Sound & display. I pick up my phone in the morning, unlock it, and volume is on again i.e. not set to silent.

Your issues may have something to do with a lack of punctuation :-P

dude i will be the first one too tell you all that was uncall for. you need to perform a hard reset and read the thread for little querk and fixes. then you will look alot better.
a hard required after loading a new rom stock or custom built.
it states this rom is for professonials and you are not acting or looking like one

1. This (TP2) is my first smartphone, and I've been flash crazy for the past two weeks. Last night I flashed three different ROMs, finally settling on this one. So far, it is absolutely my favorite, and I have to say, really stunning work!

2. I have not been hard resetting after flashing, how important is that? Its running fine, I did do a soft reset, does that count for anything?

Again, great stuff this ROM, thank you.

I have never ever hard reset after a flash, and haven't had any unusual troubles either. But then again I know more than a few people here will swear by it, so it's up to you. If you want to be extra sure and guarantee it's not an issue, go for the hard reset.

Hi Juicy,

As for bug fixes go here are my personal findings, (and can't confirm which issues are directly related to 2.5 manila):

1. From what I've noticed under settings- all settings- sounds & notifications you can't change the "Flash light for" for the "Message: New message" event.

2. Can't adjust the volume up/down using the hardware keys on the side while playing music in the music tab and the screen in sleep mode.

3. Difficult/inconsistent with getting back to home or exiting the sms tab after sending a text. Could be that hitting the end key doesn't bring you home. My best route is hitting "start" then "today" to get me back quickly.

4. Youtube volume issues, but you seem to have covered.

5. Under system- power- backlight. Dragging the sliders to the right keeping pushing me back to the battery tab.

6. Animated weather wallpaper shows lag after certain customizations. Haven't determined which exact ones. Noticed the animations were smooth like butter when first flashing. After doing all the usual customizations the weather wallpaper is unusable but the regular animated ones are fine. Seems to have slowed after linking my contact list with Facebook but can't be certain. I've also heard this is only an isolated issued and not everyone suffers from this.

These are just a few I came across that I can recall, hope it helps.

WOW great feedback

1 - will look into finding the reg associated, and enabling it
2 - fixed/not an issue on my test build of R3
3 - cant fix it (atleast not now) as manila 2.5 is for a device with dedicated HOME button
4 - fixed
5 - works for me ... just press a diff tab if it gets "stuck" then back to backlight tab
6 - will do my best to increase performance

nothing is "wrong" with flip clock... the "jittering" is just replaying the animation. it works as it is intended... it can be solved via cabs mentioned here by other folks.... im not bothering with visual customizations... i like seeing the animation

That was the same thing that was happening to me for the first couple of days when I tried to do a google search from the internet tab. Essentially manila is crashing and restarting.

Also, some observations on the lack of a home key:

The end button takes you home from everywhere other than manila. Inside manila it does nothing, but the back button works. Home is never more than 2 screen back in manila.

I've been able to adjust my habits to this, but it would be interesting to have a dedicated home key.

Its so stupid most of the new phones are "touch" devices.. why in the hell would you have to push a hardkey button? stupid developers. They should hire juicy!

Personally, I agree. I'm waiting for HTC to release a device with edge to edge capacitive screen and no hard buttons on the top. The Leo comes close, bodes well for the model after that IMHO.

Another feature i like is the Auto lock with manila
Just wondering if there is a way to make it show calendar appointments or alarm info or unread mail, at the unlock screen like S2u2?
oh that brings up another issue, S2u2 does not install, i am trying to use 2.10 and it stays at the installing screen. anyone seen this?
thanks for all your replies

I have the same issue with opening my Facebook albums. I do think I was able to get it to work once (although now that I think about it, that might have been from the app and not contacts)
