does anyone have a working 16 shortcut for the first page of sense? ive tried the one from xda and it messed up my front screen. doesnt have to be 16...but just more than 9...

Im using it too..works great, however the only real thing I really want it for is the homescreen shortcuts...but it is cool:)

I think you're misunderstanding. Ok, my problem is that the phone seems like it's constantly maintaining an ACTIVE connection to 3G even though nothing is requesting data. This is a HUGE battery drain. The normal habit is for the data to go dormant (greyed out arrows) vs being constant (bold arrows).

I like almost everything about this R8 rom but the constant data connection is bothering me a bit. I still have pages upon pages of thread to read through so if this has been explained or resolved kindly let me know. Thanks.

Battery Drain?... weird. My connection is on 24-7 and I get a good two days out of my phone with HARD use. ...


if you want to turn your connection off, just switch it off in SETTINGS>WIRELESS CONTROLS>DATA CONNECTION

ur still not understanding....the issue is the same on all roms with the new version of manila....it will connect to 3g every time u go to the home screen as if it wants to keep trying to re download weather or something....it kills off battery faster thats what the issue is.....

still what is hard use to u?

Well i would like to say thanks Juicy!!! I really love the rom!!!! I use mms but I used the ziggy fix... and it was all good cant tell the diff it really looks better..... everything works great!!!!!! you are doing a great job!!!!! In my book you the man!!!! thanks!!!

Right -So, what you have is your phone either to automatically download weather, to download facebook updates, twitter perhaps....

Hard use for me is:

1) Windows Live Messenger ALWAYS ON
2) Push mail (as mail arrives) 3 accounts
3) Check facebook 50 times a day
4) you tube at least once a day
5) Twitter updating once every 30 mins
6) Phone calls between 30mins-1 hr a day
7) Weather updating once an hour
8) Games: Solitare, resco brain games... couple times a day
9) text messages - who knows how many...


I am constantly on my phone -and the battery is not even an issue.


If you're noticing your connecting randomly trying to connect, it's not the ROM - its a setting that you've asked it to do that.

Note: When i turn my connection off: it stays off unit a scheduled "update" that i've set is ready to go.....

and u get 2 days of use with no charge....sorry bro but unless ur running a 4000mah battery there is no way u can get that much use.....:laughing3:

Juicy, You say you have been messing with WM 6.6, Does 6.6 have a clean working HTC MMS ? If so plz, let it be know. I'm using your R8 w/ 0 issues other than HTC MMS. Take the Best ROM (Juicy's R8 of Course) and add MaxManilla 2.82 and you have Perfection. Thanks for the Ubber Work Juicy...

Why does everyone have such a hard on for MMS, it a great feature and all; but I've seen post with people loosing their minds cause it didn't work

MMS is really a basic function of all cell phones these days & it is annoyng as hell when it doesn't work.

I don't use it all that much, but when I do I am really happy that it works right (I am on Verizon so MMS works through the HTC messaging)

i came back to R8 from being on Mighty roms (1.20.10) for a good month. i missed the twitter tab and the clean today screen with quick link icons on juicy roms. i said i was going to give it a week and after 3 days i can't take the sms freezing up. i was never ever one to complain about juicy roms since they were the first roms i ever flashed to but until the sms is stable enough i have to go back to what works best. and to the trolls lurking. no i have not been texting over 500 text a day & no i do not have anything updating every 10 minutes. the battery life is still great just sms is not 100% to me.... yet. i look forward to seeing R9 and testing it as well. thank you, Juicy for all your hard work.

Heck, I almost never use my phone to make phone calls (I text a lot however) I'm not going to post that's it's no big deal if it won't make a phone call however......

1 might have found a bug on this ROM (R8). The reason it might not be a bug is I don't know if Com2 Rom has this feature or not. When someone calls me while I am busy I can press the "send text" in the lower right hand corner. This works, however it always brings up the text message I have to then press send again. I have gone into the registry HKML\software\htc\phone\phoneextendsetting and made sure "editthensendmsg" was set to 1. Also I look at start\settings\personal\phone and it does not have the advance tab for these settings. I also made sure the "addmenuadvancedphonesetting" in HKML\software\htc\phone\phoneextendsetting was set to 1.

Is this a COM2 issue or am I doing something wrong?

I mention it before but I have been in and out of the forum and have not seen a reply. So I will post the question again to Juicyand other ROM users of R8. The sound issue that most say is still there well I have duplicated it but it not really a major issue-when you use the sound setting from MAnila Sense, you can notice your tool bar and the audible icon does not change and if you try to change again it goes to silence but you can adjust from the volume keys on the side of the phone no problem.
2nd is that not of the clean ROM apps has any full function such as HTC addict clean ram will run thru a normal cycle but freeze and would not allocated any free space.
This I can say was not an issue before.
That is what I have found so far, Juicy in my honest opinion you should not move on to a newer build just yet but lets put our heads together and get this one almost 99.9% perfect.
Just to others I am not complaining just pointing out little querks so that it can be ironed out

From the main home screen, tap on right softkey "menu", then choose the option to enable my location.

You can do that or just flash the ROM... let it go through its steps. and then Hard Reset.

Hey guys. I've got a Verizon TP2. Just flashed to the latest JuicyROM and I can't get my data to work. I've done the Carrier Provisioning upon first load but for some reason it didn't set up my data connection. I go to settings and set it up myself, I think, and it doesn't connect. Any idea what I can do?

EDIT: Ok... Data works now, for some reason. But now I can't get Sense to update/acquire my weather information.

EDIT2: When I let the screen automatically shut off, it's like the whole phone just dies. I have to pop the battery cover and reset.

Does anyone else have problems even remotely close to these? I would really like to use this ROM and I would love to use Sense 2.5 but it seems to be more trouble than it's worth right now.

like you "I like the NEW benefits" I just wish it ran faster and smother. pretty sure its a easy fix on my (sprint) just dont know how to make it stop running so laggy. thanks again Best rom hands down. I just need to speed it up.

Question: been bugging me since I upgraded to 6.5, so maybe not a ROM specific thing. Couldn't find it via searching: Why do drop-down menus not work? In certain forms, clicking a drop down arrow highlights the field but doesnt actually drop down and display the choices. Happens in most old-school WM forms.

Any fixes?

I for one am neutral on what you choose to do. When you posted this same poll back like sum odd 300 or so pages ago i was for 2.5. But now its "coolness" factor doesnt outweigh its shear laggyness.

I need to find a post. Its been a while. But someone posted an "Official MMS Fix" for sprint a while back where it gave you some settings where you use your cell # as part of the server settings.. It works for Verizon and not Sprint. I want to see that post again. I have something I want to try but I cant find that post or thread at all. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
