You could just use the hardware Start button to resolve that issue.

I have big meat hooks also and find tht if you press your finger on the entire Time, the task manager drops down every time.

Hardware Start button you say....pray tell how the one find this feature?.... you caught me right before I flashed back.....

If your talking about the press and hold feature of the phone button I use that for voice command.

hardware start button is at the bottom of the phone. you have from left to right; Send button, Start Menu button, Back button and the End button
