Thanks for all the suggestions. I've not kept up on the newest versions of all the apps due to being preoccupied with other aspects of the ROM. I'll update the ones you mentioned and check for other updates as well.

I replaced the wifi router with the one that's in there due to issues some were having with the wifi router 2.2 (I believe) that I had in there before. In hindsight the issues may have been with other areas and not actually the wifi router package I was using. I'll look into this again.

I included UCWeb because it's the one I use. It's faster than Opera 9.7 or 10 and IE, IMO. But, you're right. I've been thinking that 3 browsers was alot and was thinking of getting rid of Opera all together and let the user install what they like.

I'm only hesitant to start ripping out apps as one of the compliments I've received a lot was the seemingly ideal choice of apps I've included. More than one person said that they didn't have to install many of their apps cuz I already had them included.

But yes, I have removed quite a bit from the ROM already and will look into more.

I haven't look into the boot screen thing yet, but I will...

Added the latest Google maps v4.1.1.

Updated Bing and updated Midomi to v2.3.

Updated Rescoe File explorer to v8.10

Oh, and as far as the rotate screen deal. I have the app "Rotate Screen" as a quick one button way to rotate the screen. I have Flip it in there as a way to set certain apps and screens to auto rotate when the phone is changed without having to press a button. I use them both for different things. They will probably both stay in, although I may install one or both as a .cab at boot so it can be uninstalled if the user so chooses.

Hey Sharkie,

Maybe you could do like someone suggested for the wallpapers. Provide a download link for less popular programs, and only include the most popular ones in your ROM. I already install a lot of programs on my own; that's the beauty of XDA_UC. Choice is good ... including the choice to have more available free space after flashing. ;)

Re: Update[8-29-10-Hybrid v2.0]★SharkieROM★Generic\Sprint[23563\21911 BETA][Sense2016

@Sharkie

The animated bootscreen by default is located in "\Windows\animated.gif"

There are two ways to change this:

1) Place a new animated *.gif image (rename it to "animated.gif") into the "\Windows" folder. The downside of this lies in #2...
2) Go to [HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCAnimation] and change the "StartupGif" string value to the filepath of the desired animated *.gif image.

I haven't played with it yet on your ROM as I had to flash back to MightyROM for a couple days to check some stuff for KD-Font. But trust me... As soon as your next release drops, you won't be able to drag me away from here!

Sharkie, you might check your kitchen and see if you have an "animated.gif" in the "Windows" directory, or if the reg value is set to something else...

Hope that helps Sharkie!!

I've already removed about 75% of the wallpapers from the ROM and will post them in the form of a zip in the 1st or 2nd post when I update.

Keep in mind everyone, that while I have made strides in the memory area, my goal is not to provide a stripped ROM. If I do decide to releasing anything along those lines then I will think about removing much of what is in there. Before release I went over all my apps time and time again and debated what I should leave or not. What you see in there now are my core apps that I use and love and really don't want to see taken out. I will be installing questionable apps, e.g. - 3 browsers, 3 file explorers, etc... as .cabs so that they can be removed.

Oh, my bad. Is your no code .cab some sort of hacked version? If so, I can't include that in my ROM. I include it knowing that it's not freeware necessarily. I'm not trying to have Resco on my ass. I'll be installing it as a removable .cab from now on though, so anyone can remove it if they so choose.

Thanks for the tip Kliptik, I'll check it out.

man didn't take long before stuff started getting removed,i say sharkie if you want it in keep it,if you recall you were cooking this rom for YOU and decided to SHARE your work amongst the community,i really hope i don't see this rom start becoming more bare each release like 90% of roms end up,i understand ppl not wanting a lot on a rom and ect. i do but at the same time i feel as your rom becomes stripped of what it was it loses some of the unique aspects which help make your rom stand out amongst others and in the forefront with the big chefs.

just cause a few ppl don't use a certain app or two doesn't mean others don't,and what about the newbs and lurkers too afraid to post who use the rom,im sure they may hate to see certain apps go,i lurked for 5 months reading and reading before my first post lol

i guess my point is if i had any kind of say so in the matter i would always want my Sharkie rom as is but thats me,if enough ppl wanted your work on a lighter scale i would consider making a lighter stripped version for those ppl as time permits as i know and respect you have a personal life and do this for us in your FREE time for FREE

im downloading all available versions now to make sure i have copies in my archive, love your work bro and apologize for the long rant but this is a great rom that has really grown on me and i truly don't want it to be a rom that was great and end up being a rom i have to add a ton of apps to get it back to the creators initial image so to speak

remember ppl this is my opinion and i encourage more to share those so our chef can get more of a feel of what he wants his rom to be,i want it to be a chefs rom not a suggested rom as per users as we all have different taste

and for the record i agree with some things as in the browsers and resco and wallpapers and ect., you know the no brainer stuff :) i don't want anyone thinking im trying to say leave it all in by any means im just expressing that i want our chef to build the rom he wants as he would want it on his device

Yeah, that's all I'm saying. I've not nor will I in the future remove a bunch of stuff just to satisfy a few users. Like you said and I said I may in the future put out a SharkieROM lite, but my core ROM will never be a lite one.

Again, I've gone through all the apps and the only changes as far as apps are the file explorers and the browsers. And like I said removing some wallpapers. That's it. Everything else stays.

Although, I've been using the newest MMTaskmanager again and I'm sticking with that instead of ameba, ameba launcher, ameba settings and arkswitch. MMtaskmanager is more dependable in launching than arkswitch (on my ROM anyway). I also like the way it displays memory info. better than arkswitch. And of course it enables the "X" button to close programs. Why have 4 apps when 1 can do it all.

Aside from that SharkieROM is still in tact. Have no fear. :D

Thank you so much for your post! I've been down on myself as far as my ROM of late and I really needed that pick me up. Thanks!

Hey Bro, you build SharkieROMs the way Sharkie wants them. You are a very good chef, person and friend. Don't get down on yourself because you can't please everyone. If I get to TP2 land I will be sporting a SharkieROM on mine. Keep up the good work.

I know I been in here lately but only giving my opinion, suggestion or ideas.not to force my thoughts on any one but to help. After every suggestion I also say this is my opinion an this is your rom, you do what you want, respectfully so.

I know my name wasnt mentioned straitup but I felt guilty after your post, not my attention s

Sharkie, I'm not a fan of blue but your theme drew me to your rom, more so the sms theme bubbles, what ever app you decide to keep will make work

Don't get down on yourself, man! You build an AWESOME ROM!!! Fast, stable, eye candy... You got it all! Especially since it sounds like you've got the memory issues worked out!

As far as the apps go, it sounds like you've got a good handle on it. I dont use them all personally, but I don't mind them being there either. I did notice the wallpapers taking up a bit of space, but it sounds like you've got that straightened out too.

I am DEFINITELY looking forward to the next release! In fact, I've got a flash bug going on right now... :headbang:

Thanks!!!
