Hey sharkie did u ever play around with android on ur tp2 yet or r u waiting for proper tinboot (full NAND) for ur testing either way I'd love to know a rom cookers opinion on this

No, I haven't played with it at all yet. I've been thinking about it though. Since the end of WM is near and there's not much new stuff coming down the pipes these days, I'm going to have to look elsewhere for new ideas. Android will be one of the new things I play around with.

Cool if u wanna know how close we are to full NAND here's the link http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=136054 I believe it's got all the info anyone can ask for about NAND but then again if ur trying to just use a simple haret.exe to load from ur memory card there r a zillion available and with the newest kernel they got the camera working so the only thong we don't have is bluetooth

A couple of days into it - so far, so good. Very nice Sharkie. Couple of easy ones:

1) I guess I am the minority - I installed Opera - like it better. It is set as default browser but whenever use the Internet Sense Tab link and use the favorites under the "launch browser", it launches IE. If I use the "launch browser" itself - it launches Opera fine. Are you seeing that with the UCWeb browser?

2) Remind me again - what is the difference between Sharkie 6.5 and 6.5.x ROM versions? 23563=6.5.x? Assume Sense versions are the same on both.

I will report back if I see anything else - all working great!

I'm not sure what's going on with some of you getting IE when using the internet shortcuts. I've not seen IE once since I set UC Web as the default... :scratch:

Yeah, the Sense versions are the same on both. I'm gonna take some screenies of both builds and post them up so people can see. A lot of people are not sure what the difference is.

Can you confirm Sharkie if you use the Sense Tab link at the bottom of your phone and move over to Internet then use one of your favorites you launch into UCWeb? (not the favorite within the browser but the favorite in Sense tab).

If you mean like one of the two shortcuts/favorites that I have as PPCGeeks and XDA set as the 1st two defaults, yes those open up Opera. Straightup said his didn't though, and some other people have responded and said that theirs opens up UC Web. I'm not really sure why some people don't have it set as the default from all locations and some do...

There are 10 favorites you can add in the Sense tab underneath "launch browser". What do you use for screenshots? I can install it and post a screenshot.

OK - no worries - not a big deal. I can just click launch browser and use the favorites within Opera. I will post an update this weekend if I see anything else with the ROM. Like I said before - solid work.

Wanted to start out by saying this is the first rom i have used that works the way its supposed to. granted i could have tweaked the others too much lol. i di however start having problems with the last one you put out with the email alert going off non stop when i got an email though. anyway now im off to read up on task 29. i have never used it and im wondering how much of a difference it will really make. oh yah almost forgot! love the 80s music ringtones!

In a nutshell... whenever you flash a ROM tiny bits of it can be left on the phone, then you flash another on top of that and some traces of it may be left as well, then you flash someone else's ROM and that ROM leaves behind a tiny bit of info. too. Next thing you know you're having these weird issues like the email notification going off non stop, which I've never had on any of my ROMs.

Task29 is like a super cleaner. It wipes the phone totally clean of any traces of previous ROMs/software/registry etc... So that when you install a ROM, you're installing it on a fresh, squeaky clean slate versus on top of bits and pieces of old information.

That's my understanding of it anyway. For this reason, I don't think it's necessary to Task29 if your reflashing the exact same ROM. It's only laying down the exact same information. Unless of course the reason you're reflashing is because something is F'ed up to begin with. In which case, yes, you should Task29 that sucker.

i downloaded your sprint 6.5 and flashed it.. i usually google sync my contacts and calendar through activesync. i set up the same way for this rom also, but when i click on the "sync" .. its not attempting to connect at all. any idea whats going on? otherwise i like the layout and such. I am a long time vindows user, just wanted to try yours and see how it goes

i have a disableslidewakeup.cab. what this is supposed to do is not wake up the phone when i slide the keyboard out when the phone is locked.. it helps me a lot and stops my a$$ from dialing numbers.. anyway.. i install this in vin's rom, it works as it supposed to. i have it installed on yours now, its not working. when i slide the keyboard it wakes up the phone and goes into the home screen. anyway to avoid this?

Man this ROM is wicked fast and so far everything seems to be working great. The only flaw I have noticed was in Settings/Personal/Buttons....the Virtual Buttons tab doesn't display correctly. Not a big deal for me. I will defenitely be running this ROM for a while. SharkieROM 3.0 Generic 6.5.x

Yeah, I'm not sure about the display in the the buttons screen. I believe it has something to do with my theme. Glad you're enjoying it otherwise. :)

cab is attached. this cab works on all the roms that i have tried except yours and energy.. dont know why..

everywhere i have looked, it tells me to edit the HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/slidewakeup to 0. that registry is already there.. so not sure whats the deal. i have tried with and without the cab(directly editing the registry)

i do have to tell you. this Rom looks great. with all the apps loaded and cht. i still get good amount of free memory.. seems pretty fast too. i havent tried 6.5.x i am a big 6.5 fan.

All that cab is, is the registry settings you mentioned. I'll put this issue on my to do list. It seems like it'd be an easy fix. We'll see... Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Hey Sharkie, Flashed 3.0 (6.5.x)... Gotta say it's good stuff, First TP2 ROM I've seen with the manila highlights skinned! For someone who just wants to flash a ROM & not have to install apps or tweaks this is for them, great right out the box, & you make a Sprint specific ROM... Thanks for sharing =D>

I have to imagine I am the only one seeing this from reading all the responses - but battery life is a lot worse compared to the Sharkie cutting edge ROM I was running since last December. Everything works perfect on this ROM though so I hate to flash to another one - but the battery life is not real good for me for some reason. I had 100% this morning, drove with bluetooth connected (no talking) and within 30 minutes I was already at 90%. I am at 18% now at 4:30 PM and only had 1 call today (20 minute call). I used to be able to last the whole day and be at around 50% and having several calls and email checks.

I am thinking of trying the Sharkie Beta from 1/11. If anyone has suggestions on what to try, I am all ears. I disable bluetooth when not in car, 30 mins on weather updates, and manual email checks via ActiveSync.

Wish I could help but I am always ****in around w/my phone all the time. Also always keep a spare batt w/me so never I use any battery saving tweaks.

I use a version of task29 that only puts a splash screen on the phone and does not mess around with the radio (at least that is my understanding).

if you search vin's rom thread you will find links to 2.37WV and 2.35WV.. they are kick ass radio. yes its verizon, but i have it on my sprint tp2 and its great

I'm not sure we met the same problem. To solve my Activesync issue, I used the following solution:

On the phonw: Start -> Settings -> All Settings (bottom left) -> Connections -> USB to PC

uncheck "Enable faster data synchronization"

why is this a 'deal breaker' for you :scratch: you said your a s s dials when keyboard is opened and then unlocked (instead of staying locked) i understand the issue but how is the keyboard opening up while under your a s s? i would think the phone would break under that situation. seems like a small prob to just give up on all the fast beauty :mrgreen:
well as for 90%-100% on the battery, no matter what rom your on this will always drain fast (basicly your at 100 then in no time down to 90). i was having battery drains couple 2-3 roms back but i narrowed the cause for me down to 2 apps (reremind and auto loud speaker) once i have taken these to out my battery is extremely better. do you have any of those? if not then maybe you have another app that may be causing drain. i honestly dont think its the rom, after i narrowed my drain down and nobody else w/ these issues being reported. the only real way to test this is a long procedure and it well kinda sucks but install 1 app (or 2/3 max) at a time and per day. if you can go the day w/ good batt then the next day another 1-3 until you notice drain then you'll have to narrow down between the apps you installed that day if over 1. i say 1 a day will take forever but 3 wont but then you have to narrow those down. i have 1 more suggestion, under nue battery hit menu then load defaults, then only check 1% (only if you have to have 1% battery increments otherwise leave at default) and leave that for the day and check results.

i started using chts and playing w/ the settings and my battery is lasting longer :mrgreen:
i would have to agree w/ slthomas, if your just looking for a clean slate task 29 w/ a splash screen. if you wanting to test out radios then do that but be careful cause it can cause brick if 1 its not the correct radio or 2 the flash ddoesnt complete (to my understanding)

sense, to me, is blazing fast, more so then i ever seen it. the 'sub' volume control is great and the in call volume doesnt change w/ every new call. :mrgreen: maybe the text saying your loading customizations or whatever could be the same text as the touch pro 2 1st boot splash. the left side of the taskbar doesnt pop up that big icon menu thingy like in previous roms but now the notification manager, which i like better (never used the oversized icons) how hard to put wifi router in the comm manager? or was that the issue from what back at the begin, i cant remember. a few graphic glitchs in landscape but not a big deal, will post screenies later.

Ok, seems i may have a problem. i used task 29 used 2.37WV. it loaded just fine but didnt restart on its own as it said it would. i waited a while just in case but nothing so i manualy restarted it ( it did say complete ) now in the bootloader it wants to flash the same file again ( says splash screen 1 and splash screen 2) but doesnt seem to see the sd card with the new rom on it. its been sitting here on sharkies splash for a while now as i thought it might be doing something i cant see but nothing. any suggestions? i also cant get it to stay in the boot loader screen so it never says USB.

nevermind that last post. seems i got it. maybe i just didnt wait long enough? however it went to the boatloader saying serial and i plugged in the USB and it switched so i then took no chances and installed over USB. seems to be loading fine now. will post later and let you know if its working ok. thanks again for all the great info. guess all this reading and no posting for a year now was worth it lol

I believe so, but I've not flashed a new radio on my TP2 so I'm not 100%. I know on my TP when I changed radios the new radio info. was reflected in the software info.

lol had to do it again all fixed. sorry for all the posts. just so everyone knows. if you get stuck like i did with the phone not wanting to go into the SD card bootloader, remove the battery and then the SD card. when it does into the rainbow bootloader and says Serial plug in your USB and load your rom that way. only way i have found to fix this problem.

I also want to mention that sprint TV works great on this ROM using Boost mobile. can even subscribe to pay channels!

PP is set to 12 and on the 6.5.X as is, I get at least 44% free fresh after boot, possilbly 46% or 47%, I can't remember exactly. I'm on my 6.5 now, but I was going to flash to 6.5.X anyway here shortly. When I do, I'll post back with an exact number.
