6-19 [ROM / Kitchen] - 'Sprint Basics 1.4' Visual Kitchen - WM 6.1 Only

1 Attachment(s)
Updated 6/19 - Rev 1.4 is out. See change log for details.

This ROM / kitchen is for all you diehard WM 6.1 fans like myself.

Due to popular request I decided to post a Sprint WM 6.1 Kitchen.

I dont run WM 6.5.x, I only run 6.1 ;c) Nothing too fancy, all updated apps as usual. Fast and clean.

There is a brief "how to" for the kitchen attached to this post.

ROM: Sprint Basics 1.4 ROM
Kitchen: Sprint Basics 1.4 Kitchen

As always, thanks for trying my work and let me know if you find any bugs.

Thanks,

Scott

If you would like the Manila start menu download the attached cab, run it, soft reset phone. I personally like the old school WM 6.1 Start menu. This is for those that want the manila start menu.

Known Issues
Sprint TV will not play the Welcome video when very first launched, gives connection error. Click OK and normal functionality is fine.

I tried so hard with 6.5 but I just cannot accept it ;c( I decided to go back to 6.1 and stay there for the time being. This is a pretty up to date 6.1 kitchen. Let me know if I missed anything.

No this is a kitchen. I will try to post the ROM it creates later this week. Otherwise, download the kitchen and give it a spin.

You are on XP arent you? If so attach the kitchen_build_rom.bat to this thread so I can modify it real quick. You will have to zip it first.

No need for 6.5 AKU.

Load the base ROM. I have one allready set up. Then choose options. You wont have to worry about all that.

symantec told me it's a virus when i went to unzip. Is this a noob issue I'm running into here?

If it turns out my work computer won't let me do this (because i can't disable antivirus) can someone just post whatever rom they come up with with this?

My idea of a good Sprint rom would be a stock sense theme (instead of that ungodly sprint theme) and all the crapware taken out.

There's no virus present in the kitchen. I scanned it with AVG ... so I think Symantec is giving you a false reading.

I thought it was at 16. Should not feel to sluggish. You can bump it up to 20 / 24 in the kitchen. Just hit the "Other" button and chnage the page pool as it shows.

Yep, the pp is set to 16 in the kitchen ... I changed it to 24 and put together a quick test rom using mostly Scott's template selections. Really like the way you put together this kitchen, Scott ... great work.

That's what I figured, i mean why would someone post a virus here? I just can't disable it since this is my work laptop (and i don't have any other pc since i'm away for a few months for work here in iowa.)

As to my second request, do you think you could take up the task?

Awesome, but I just thought of something: Any way to get the stealth tethering working along with the htc wi-fi router so I can be lazy and avoid doing it myself? :)

Also, does this rom come with the stock sense theme?

Actually, I have no way to test the rom, but I used Scott's template, which he said is true to the basic Sprint rom. As for the tethering, with my Diamond, it's as simple as a couple of registry edits. I'm sure there are others who can help with Rhodium specific edits.

I really hope someone comes in and takes this and builds a stock sprint rom that features a stock sense theme, the tether hacks, and takes out all the unnecessary bloatware.

The main reason is because this rom, for some reason, has display drivers that work properly in landscape view, which means when using TV out, and coreplayer's qtv driver, movies play extremely smooth and without blue flicker...

It's a great kitchen ... and I'm sure someone will come along a put together a rom that mostly meets your needs. Just thought you might like a quick and dirty look at what Scott has put together.

Well, for tethering via a usb cable there's this:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=12

But I'm not 100% certain it's the same for the htc wifi router thing. I really liked that wifi router feature in mightyrom. I used it a lot since I'm in a hotel room for a few months.

The tethering edits for internet sharing and wi-fi router are the same ... just use phm registry editor. I think that it's included in the rom. Here's a cab as well ...

Putting together a rom isn't difficult ... just requires a little practice ... trial and error. Once you d/l Scott's kitchen, you will need to extract the files. When you open the kitchen, click on "load rom" and you will find the included sample template. I would start with that ... load it up and hit create ... wait for the nbh to be created ... your screen will tell you when it's time to flash. I know this is overly simplified ... but it will give you a start.
