Any ideas? Help a noob out. lol. I love this ROM, but I would like to be able to run sashimi.

About Cabs
I follow Sharkie with Cab Converter and it's so easy than using shashimi.
And it's so fan to play and learn with Raidzero Kitchen:laughing6::laughing6::laughing6:

Manila 2.1.1919.3217 runs but is pretty unusable right now (you cannot see anything past pixel 640, there are 160 more pixels of stuff down there (all menus, slider - right now I worked around the slider issue by using the retractablte slider for VGA) and the icons are not centered when sliding (I do not know why because I thought the rhodium screen was 480 px wide just like the TP)

I do not know anything of sashimi, what cabs did it install? it must have been something that breaks the ROM's ability to boot.. sorry I cannot be of more help. The workaround would be to (I know, it sucks) hard reset, not use sashimi and just install the cabs normally. see if that helps. if it does make up a sdconfig.txt in the root of your storage card that calls those cabs to be installed at autorun.

or as jdm said, just cook your cabs into the rom with the kitchen ;)

to answer that for stuff like manila you will need the whole kitchen build.. unless (lol here we go again) I do a simple EXT nightly uploaded also lol. though I have added many tools to TOOLS (for manila editing) maybe I should make a standalone upload of that too lol that would be crazy. a full kitchen to start with and then individual components to update with?? hmm.. nobody has ever done THAT before, well... I guess nobody has ever done any sort of nightly anything upload. (on ppcgeeks at least) ;)

It was like 3 cabs, nfl mobile live, galarm and motweets, I use sashimi more for my email accounts. I have 4 and its a pain to set them all back up once I flash a ROM. Also to backup my PIM because it restores my faves tab and all my facebook connections. I don't think I'm ready for ROM cooking yet.

I appreciate you guys and your quick responses though. The ROM is pretty fast and stable though, I ran it all day yesterday before restoring any of my information to see if I like it. i may just install the stuff manually and keep this one for a while.

I tryed to have the wallpaper for all but it's not working some times it's there and some times disappear.
I got a cab for weather Canada and Mexico and it's working with the last kitchen.

So in an attempt to help other n00bs such as myself here's what I used to cook cabs into the kitchen. First you have to put them in EXT form. RaidZero suggested putting them in OEM format first then from OEM to EXT. Here's the program I used to transform cabs to OEM; then from OEM to EXT, and a quick tutorial on how to do it.

1) Drag the cab into "1 Cab2OEM". It will then place an OEM folder of that cab in the same folder you got the cab from.

2)Drag that OEM folder into "2 EXT_PAckages_rebuilder". It will then turn that OEM folder into an EXT folder. The folder will remain where it was; it will just change format (or whatever you call it; I'm a noob remember).

3)Open up the kitchen and drag that EXT folder and drop in the EXT\Baseline\zzzzzzz_last folder.

That's what I did anyway and everything worked out.

If anyone uses it, let me know if it worked out...

Oh, and I didn't make the Cab Converter. I was searching around and came across it somewhere in PPCGeeks. Didn't bother to notice from who... Sorry

Thanks so much for this Sharkie :) Just Cooked all my Cabs into the kitchen successfully ...Added a theme, and basic apps like Google maps, etc. Carrier Cabs, MMS Arcsoft Alltel, ....Its Great.

Still loving this Kitchen RZ. . . Everything is soooo easy to find. I modified the splash screen on bootup (I know that's not a big deal, but it's nice for me)... The manila files are great too.... I was able to delete what I didn't want and add CAB-->EXT files for back to stock manila. .. love it! ....

...just have one question and it's no biggy... On the RUU when I flash my cooked rom how do I modify the rom to have the name I want it to have? Right now it says current version is "Baseline" whenever I re-flash. . . i would like it to say the name I want.... I know this has no change on the performance... it's just me wanting to not be so noobie lol. Thanks :)

ahh, I remember that. I forgot about that in the newer versions. I will try to remember how that was implemented. Sorry I have been pretty busy recently, last nights kitchen did not upload because of the stupid power settings in windows putting my machine to sleep... I always forget that when I format..

It is going. I have gotten the slider up to be visible and it works. I have aligned the slider icons on the screen, there is still a TON to do. There are of course all those xxxxxxxx_manila files and once they are taken apart they have a bunch of sub-manila particles (teehee) some of those being images, QTC files (images), mode9 files (and inside those are xml documents to edit) alongside mode9 lies LUAC files which are actually little compiled programs of their own, when you decompile those they become lua files which are all code using an HTC adaptation of the LUA scripting language: this is where the real stuff is done. I am learning as I go along.

the x button does not close programs on 6.5.1, you have to use the task manager to do that. That is a known issue with 6.5.1

on a side note: I just unwrapped a VZW TP2 and omg it is sexy. SO much easier to use... no TAB key though! :(

Just thought I'd give an update to my experience and a question. . . The kitchen is still great with no bugs like I have had in other ROM's .. but I do have only one bugg.....

I know QuickGPS is glitchy in about 70% of all ROM's especially in new builds... but I have a problem. Actually I'm not entirely sure if it is with QuickGPS itself, because it runs (aside form it occasionally freezing when I update the downloaded content it gets) ...but sometimes it crashed the phone... shuts it completely off. It also happens in Google Maps (which I have cooked the latest version into the ROM). it seems to be random, but sometimes it happens when I hit exit or some other option, or I don't have to do anythign at all. .......I suppose my question is this: Is the problem with QuickGPS, or the GPS itself? I have not had this problem in other ROM's. Is there anything I can do to try and fix it?

Thanks :)

I just flashed the 23071 rom and so far I like it. It seems to not be so bloated on my vzw tp which is needed.

One question though. I've become used to the nice finger-friendly menus in some of the other roms. Is this something I can install from a cab, or does it have to be cooked in? I've tried fingersuite before and I'm not a big fan of that, but is there a way to get the menu enhancements from a cab?

Thanks for your work.

No I will not leave tp land, but a lot of my focus will be turned to the TP2 as soon as the unlocker lands (maybe tonight). I am getting nowhere in porting that new manila. Nothing has ever been so frustrating. I am going to leave that to the people who speak LUA (manila's scripting language) I had never even heard of it until yesterday lol. Anyway, this TP2 is only a loan from VZW (testing some stuff for them in my area involving PRLs and coverage), I need to give it back in 15 days and after that I will be using my Sprint TP until I can switch my line to VZW and get a TP2 as my main device.

omahajs, Sharkie detailed somewhere in this thread how to turn on HTC menus globally in manila. If you mean titanium, then it is already finger friendly as long as you stick with the calkulin flamerise theme

That's where I got with that. RZ, if now that you've dabbled in Manila a little bit you have any thoughts as to why that didn't work, I love to hear.

I'd pretty much given up on getting Manila menus with RZ's ROM/Kitchen. It's badass enough that I could get over it.

*Edit*

I've been fishing around for an HTC Menu Enhancement cab. Your ROM/Kitchen seems to be impervious to HTC Menus. I've installed like 6 different kinds, all different ways, hard reset, soft reset, diff. combos...the whole 9 yards. None of it works.

I got message enhancement working. add this EXT to baseline\manila_dependencies. remove the existing message enhancement. this will of course be in tonight's kitchen.

edit: wait thats message, sorry. I meant to do menu.. working on that now.

OK menu enhancement works now too but its green, must.. change... heh

heres a shot of coreplayer sporting the menu enhancement:

I am going to change the highlight color to blue but gimp.org is down! I just formatted my laptop so what am I to do.. I guess I'll try sourceforge ;)

I have to say I kinda like the menu enhancement, it makes scrolling through long menus fun - might change it to be in titanium too :)

its green, which is ugly. I tried changing to blue but it wasnt that easy...

I just tried the cab and no luck. Clearly I have done something to my phone.

umm.. thats odd. this cab includes htcc scroll so even if you messed up htc scroll it should still work. maybe htc message enhancement was one of its dependencies, I did replace that too..

Cooking the menu enhancement in right now... we'll see how it goes...

*Edit*

It worked!!!! I used the tachi menu enhancement rar file and it worked like a charm! I was beginning to think it just wasn't possible! Thanks so much. Now everything is perfect!

good stuff, I am working on changing the color... puke (HTC) green clashes with my blue heaven haha ;)

edit:
much better:

edit 2: didnt mean to tease everyone and not include the cab... this is just the menu file so you will need to install menu enhancement or cook it in first

hey rz,

i've tried cooking 23502 and 23081 in your kitchen, but i have two problems:
- after i've cooked, your autorun customizations don't run - your tweaks don't get applied, flamerise doesn't get set as the theme, etc...i don't know why. worked fine with your release version roms
- i've had problems getting my gps program (igo8 ) to work...can't seem to detect the gps on com4

dunno if it's just me, but i'd wonder if anybody else experiences this too.
thanks!

Auto customizations run on mine and flamerise is set as the default theme in my 23502 cooked w/ the kitchen.

I don't use igo8 so I don't know about that. I don't have any gps issues though...
