Ok. I just got Windows 7 pro 64 bit and I'm having zero luck getting a sync. I can get it to work with internet sharing, and view as a drive mode, but I can't get it to sync.

I tried disabling advance connect in USB options, but no go.

I'm using Windows Mobile Device Center.

So far I'm missing xp, but I have a ghost backup to go back to if things go too badly.

i'm actually also running Win7 x64 (for past 5 month), build 7100 (RC) a while back and now build 7600 (RTM)... activesync never had a problem with syncing or any other connection problems.

try disabling "Enable advanced network functionalty" in the USB to PC settings.

eww, ghost is so 1995

i think i might have had to install wmdc device update on 7.

also wmdc sucks, and alot of times i have to open it manually from control panel before the device gets connected.

I have been running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, from beta to RC to the TechNet release back in August, and have not had a problem with syncing. It is probably a setting somewhere that you will end up hitting yourself for not thinking about right away. If so, it's ok, we have all done that at least once.

Ok, so you guys are using activesync 4.5 with win7 64bit? That was the first thing i tried to install and it gave me a prompt that made me think it wouldn't install on this platform. But that was early on, before I started getting comfortable with the new interface.

I meant to say I "cloned" my drive. Norton products make me shudder.

sidenote on win7: WTH did they move showdesktop button to right side of screen (only!)??

I thought ActiveSync was only for XP? If you have Vista/Win7 you should be using wmdc. As far as showing the desktop, there is a button now on the right side, but you can still right-click the taskbar and click show desktop, or use Windows+D.

Yeah. Activesync is blocked from installing "due to incompatibility".

WMDC is just not working for me. And it's such a stupid program. When it fails it will have a big ERROR and that's it. No description of what the problem is.

When I connect the phone up, Windows 7 recognizes it as a generic usb device (clicking into that shows PocketPC USB as description). I'm at a loss.

But I can get the internet sharing to work as well as using the phone as a flash drive option. That will have to do for now.

edit: I already thought of disabling advanced connection in the USB options. In fact it requires I have that disabled in order to be recognized by Windows 7 at all.

Go into device manager and check to see if it is listed in there with an error for the driver. That is most likely what is going on now that I think of it. From what I can tell, it has 3 different 'modes' Drive, Sync, Modem, and separate drivers for each. If all else fails, you could try to see if window's built-in sync center will work. I don't have any experience with it so I couldn't advise you on how to set that up though.

It's not a problem isolated to this rom. It's an issue with WMDC in general and I've seen a lot of others with the same issues.

I just uninstalled WMDC again, and then redownloaded it (funny the new file is 2 megs bigger but it has the same August origination date on the website). Now everything is syncing fine.

I don't know what the problem was in the first place. I just uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC and now it works. So try that if you have issues.
