We should put together one of those google maps deals where groups can put a pin on a certain area and write reviews about which radio is working well / not so well for them??

Would anyone use that? I could research...

Geo Terrestrials - GPS Today App is exactly what you're talking about. You can post anything there, including where yo have good signals. As well as groups you can create publicy or privately and that you can join.

Anyways, if something happens where a lot of us used it, that would be cool.

good call 420! I created a private group called 'ppcgeeksforums' and made a posting already. If you can join it yourselves - awesome! If not, let me know what your e-mail or Geo Terrestrial username is and i'll drop the invite. Shoot me a PM

I'd like to get a good feel for which radios work well in certain areas.

Tried the new sprint radio (1.12.34) in New Rochelle NY (Westchester County, bout 15 miles from NYC) and I am getting:
HDR: RX Power -80 to -89 dbm, Signal Strength between 83-90, Requested data rate of 81.600 kbps.
1x: RX Power -89 to -99dbm, RX EX/Io 16 to 19db

On Telus 1.04.05, HDR: RX Power -80 to -88dbm, RX Signal Strength between 85-91, same requested data rate
1x: RX Power -80 to -90, RX EX/Io 13 to 21db.

Tested @ 3 sec sample rate, on MightyRom6 version 07.16.09 on the Sprint network I'm about 1/4 mile away from the nearest tower (home)..... me personally, I'm sticking with Telus radio. But I'll try again tomorrow & post my results when I go to work (cause I'll be 2 blocks away from the tower). Hope this info helps my fellow NY'ers...

Not just where you are at, but what carrier as well. A good radio for Sprint in Louisville may be bad for Verizon in Louisville. If its a different carrier its different towers (unless you're roaming of course).

1.12.34f Works nice in Houston, I'm on Down Town area, and for example if I want to watch a YOUTUBE video, doesn't freeze trying to get the download to work, I'm going out of town tomorrow, I let you know how it works!
