Yeah, I kinda figured that. Was just making sure there would be no issues.

Actually the PRL stands for Preferred Roaming List, I believe. It will only affect where you connect IF you are roaming.

If you aren't, the tower/antenna coverage of your cell phone co. plus your phone radio itself (what we're experimenting with here) and your local environment/architecture/what have you is what determines how good your coverage is.

It is my understanding that the PRL tells your phone what towers to use in each area, roaming or not. Obviously, then, Sprint PRLs give Sprint towers priority over any other towers. And, if you load a Verizon PRL onto a Sprint phone, you will end up always roaming, as the Verizon PRL will tell the phone to use Verizon towers when it can.

Of course, as you can see, I'm new here. Anyone with more experience want to clear this up?

you won't always roam if you load a prl provided by another carrier, because the prl is only used *to* roam. if you were to roam, and you had a prl loaded from a carrier with no towers programmed into it near you, you probably wouldn't be able to roam at all.

I know before Sprint had EVDO in my area I could load the Alltel PRL on my phone and get EVDO. To me that means PRL contains all the preferred tower information roaming or not. just my 2 cents.

I'm located in Louisiana ...after a few days of use with this radio, I can say that it gives me better signal, but it seems to drain my battery quicker from my observation...

Here is the definitive answer about PRLs from Sprint.

In short, it will not affect anything but your roaming.

Could you run some more tests with some of the newest radios.
I am curious to see how they perform.
Verizon 1.03.09 has been the best one for me so far.
Thanks.

Well, so far the Verizon radio is working quite well for me. I have done pretty extensive testing throughout my travels in the Los Angeles area and found the Verizon radio(1.03.09V) to be superior to my original Sprint shipped radio.

As to how much extensive testing I will do beyond the information I have already provided, well, I will probably keep the radio I have for a while. I want to see how the battery performs over a longer period of time.

sounds like the flash is not actually completing successfully. are you getting an error? explain what's taking place when you attempt to flash it.
