anyone have any experience which radio works best in twin cities MN?

My current Sprint radio 1.03 something gives me a Rx of -95-103dbm. Tried the verizon radio and it increased to -69dbm. This morning I tried the sprint 1.11F and it went back down to -103dbm.. I have a poor sprint signal at work..

IMO... I'm sticking with the 1.12.31F radio since it is handing the heat issues I was having and seem reliable where I am. I haven't done any speed tests, I'm happy if it stream my online radio stations at work. GPS picked up in seconds and I'm on Sprint, so no issues there either.

Ok... Revising my statement... v1.12.31F is locking between 5-30 minutes now. I did find that several tests not far apart (like I had done to begin with) had very quick locks. Waiting several hours to a day or more takes way too long to lock though.

Over the past few days... The heat reduction is almost worth keeping the radio... But I do use the GPS at least a few times a week... Maybe I'll roll back to v1.12.20F and report back if I have any difference there.

thank you very much for doing that Strra. Very much needed. Lets hope people read it. Can you add it to post one? I think it would obviously get much more exposure there. Thanks bro

The 1.12.31F works for me. I did not try every radio though.

When talking about radio signal the lower the better. -50 is better than -100. At home I get -110 and I have to move before I answer the phone. At work I get -60 and that plus my aircard is awesome.

I'm assuming you are running a custom ROM which attempts to tweak the GPS using entries in HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS. Delete them if using a 1.12.XX radio and your GPS will lock as normal.

-100 is less than -50. Higher is better.

In terms of absolute mathematical value, yes, -100 is less than -50.

But in terms of your phone radio, absolutely not. A few hundred feet from a cell tower my signal level is now -68 dbm with all 6 bars.

At home where I've had missed calls, delayed texts and VMs, I get anywhere from about -88 to -96 dbm. There's the proven example.
