Flick the screen up to reveal your quicklinks. Then flick the screen left or right [might need to flick it over twice] to get to the settings box [like my screen shot].

If you hit the button that says "Slider" it will hide your slider so you can get to the bottom row of settings [FYI].

Those shortcuts, I think are the "Alert" ones, so select "ON" for that option and it should hide them. I think the logic on the settings is reversed, so "On" means "Hide".

EDIT: I think you can use TouchPro Tweak [in START-TOOLS-TWEAKS] to keep the backlight on during a call. I believe In Call Screen Tweaks [not cooked in, but linked through the thread in my sig] will let you set this option as well.
Thanks, ThreeFaces . . .
The strange thing is, it goes black with my hands free on . . . it's not against my cheek. I'll try your suggestions to see if that cures it and post back.

I'm frustrated with this thing now.

Running the 28008 rom, no issues and then today...boom. slow as fricken molasses. Takes forever to update weather, the clock sits at 0:00 for as long as it wants too.

I soft reset. I hard reset. I reflashed. All to the same effect. Gonna try a different rom, just to make sure its not a corruption of some kind.

yea, sorry, I should have provided more detail. Here's what's happening. We used to have a program cooked in called In Call Screen Tweaks - that would use the light sensor to determine when you moved the phone to and from your face...I believe the stock ROM works this way too, but In Call Tweaks gave you more options for customizing how this feature works. I think the screen is also on a timer, so if you're using a hands-free, the screen may still be going dark during a call.

So, what you're seeing is the screen timing out - what you want is for the screen to stay lit during a conversation. You can install In Call Tweaks to do this - the cab is linked in my Thread [in my sig].

It's also possible to try Touch Pro Tweaks [already cooked into the ROM]. Option 1.3 "Light Sensor" will disable the sensor during calls from darkening the screen. There's also 1.1 and 1.2 which will force the device to stay awake during calls.

Hope some of that helps more.

EDIT: I think the additional logic behind knocking the screen out during a call is battery saving potential. A long phone call can kill your battery...a long phone call with the backlight on is even worse.

When the clock is "stuck" at 0:00, are you just soft resetting? Have you tried touching the screen with your finger to see if it "wakes up"? I've seen this before when the device boots up or wakes up, sometimes it seems like it' snot booting fully...then I tap the screen with my finger and all is right in the world.

If that's not the issue, you might try a newer build...or a slightly older one you know to be stable for your needs.

I have 1.1 and 1.2 disabled as well as the "Light Sensor", still does this . . . strange. Maybe I need to try In Call Tweaks . . . I searched your thread, but couldn't find it . . .
Thanks for being patient with me!

Just did a google for it . . . found it. Thanks!

The new non-beta build is fine and everything, but the one problem that really hasn't been resolved is the texting bug.
If you disabled HTC Messenger, and solely use WM, you'll occasionally run into the problem of selecting a message and it hanging on "loading message."
Or when you send a message, it infinitely loops the "loading" animation and never actually sends the message.
The only way to solve this problem is to soft reset.
This happens to heavy texters a lot, like me.

Yea, try In Call Tweaks then...hope it works out for you. If someone else knows of a reg edit or trick to get this working, hopefully they'll chime in. Always glad to help when I have the time and info.

Yea, it's not really a ROM issue as much as an issue with 2.5. I think we'll continue to see odd SMS behavior until the developers who are working on the 2.5 port get the texting app working perfectly for us. If you're a very heavy texter and are finding this all to be a huge hassle, I would def rock a 2.1 version of the ROM. I think you'll find those issues are not existant.

Yeah, I figured.
I mean, I wouldn't care if it was the calendar app or something, but it had to be messaging.
I would use 2.1 if it had HTC Peep.
I think the only reason I'm on 2.5 is for Peep.
