Re: WM 6.5 Is it worth it?

if you honestly think that MS has not upgraded the core OS at all, by all means keep using 6.1, fact is, things like memory management improve with time. by your logic, no real point in running 6.1 either or 6.0, stick with wm5...

agreed, i love 6.5 its way better than 6.1 and the improvements makes the file explorer, contacts app, IE, start menu etc. much more useable, plus... that is where the market is going with MS so unless you want to stay in the stone age, you will eventually flash to 6.5 to get all the latest. i dont get why people try to find any excuse to not try it out, closed minds slows down progress of anything

Ok, that wasn't very constructive. It almost sounds like you got mad that people don't agree with our opinion. Relax we are just having a discussion.

Give us examples where 6.5 is blazing fast? I'll admit it does seems faster in certain areas, it by no means is Dial-up VS broadband , or Road Runner VS Coyote.

Speed isn't the only aspect of it. How about usability? The ease of cuztomizing it?

not mad... just go through the same thing every release, same when 6.1 came out everyone asked if it was worth it, now you can't find a 6.0 rom, worth it or not... it's innevitable, might as well start getting used to it.

Titanium plugin is cool, lots of potential for customization, all xml controlled, same with the startmenu, here is what I've done to start icons, love the way things look now

Re: WM 6.5 Is it worth it?

I use PointUI 2 instead of TF3D and if there was similar system wide kinetic scrolling, it would make my day. The 6.5 lock screen and finger menus were also a plus, but now that S2U2 has the same features and then some, as well as finger menus cooked into some roms, it's a bit less appealing to me personally. Will jump onto Copper if it ever comes to the Diamond though. I want to experience all this "speed" everyone is talking about.

Can we some how change the 3-row icons to 4-row and make the icons smaller? Some of the non-stock icons look really crappy all blown up.

that is entirely possible(there are cabs available), but can replace any icon with a 90x90 png as well, so eventually we will have icon customization packs with every app imaginable in it

no... just saying things improve with time... one thing that is changing with 6.5, is the ability to use more modules, an extra slot has been added, this will speed up alot of the base apps. unfortunately, your device will need a 6.5 kernel, so only devices with shipped roms will be able to take advantage of this (only regurgitating things I read elsewhere, don't flame me if the info is wrong)
