Re: new radio 1.07.06f

i did a quick test with the new us cellular radio installed on my ex's tp. both are sprint, and the phones were sitting next to each other. my phone, on a call was at 341ma throughout, bounced to 400ma for a second and back down to 341, with the telus rom. on hers, it was consistently 420ma throughout the call, and bounced to around 485. gps lock on hers was slightly quicker, but not by much at all. it had more satelites sooner, but maybe by 1 or 2 seconds. i did the call tests 5x, and the gps 3x with a soft reset after each. data speeds were the same, and heat was about the same, hers getting very slightly hotter in temp by the time i was done testing the calls. i kept the calls on for 5 minutes each to test for temp.

i didn't check the debug menu, but my phone with the telus had a few bars more than hers while sitting next to each other on a desk by a window.

i told her to try the us cellular rom out for a few days and see how it works for her. she had a lot of problems with the phone heating up to the point of not being able to charge so i figured the telus radio would help, but then i figured i'd try the new one out of curiousity.

Re: new radio 1.07.06f

I have been using the telus radio for a while and I was getting a decent signal but the battery drain was a little higher than the stock radio or 1.11. Switched to the USCC radio a couple days ago and battery life was much better but the signal dropped by about 5db compared to the telus radio where I work and at my home. Both in the St Louis, MO area. I have switched back to the telus radio until something else comes along. I thought I saw another post on here about a version 1.07 telus radio. Has anyone else seen this? Can we get this radio?

Re: new radio 1.07.06f

OK... So I have been testing this radio for a day or so. I switched from the 1.11 radio, and I am in the Los Angeles area. Here are the few things I noticed.

Both the 1.11 and the 1.07 radio lock on GPS a lot faster. The stock sprint one was pretty much useless. It is a toss up between 1.11 or 1.07, but for real world, it does not matter. We are talking like 15 secs vs. 20 sec, so what will those extra 5 secs get you. But still a lot better then the stock radio which took up to 4 mins or more, and would loose connection all the time.

I called several people and the noticed no difference in audio quality in any of my calls. "sounds like a mobile phone..." nothing different. This was with any radio

Data... no difference here on either. In fact, the whole data thing is odd. I know people try new radios, and new TCP settings, but my transfer varies from 300 to 1500 no matter what I do. I think this has nothing to do with radio and more to do with the network. Theoritically, the the middle of the night, on a clear dry day, in a vaccum, I may be able to get 3000, but I will never be able to count on that in the real world. Most of the time, I will get 400 to 800. Nothing is going to make your speed consistant and good in your area. If you want to get the speed that other people are advertising, move in with them.... at least that is my theory.

Dan! You are the man!

GPS is ultra fast in GPS locks and my EVDO increased by over 200Kbps.

So far the phone is running much much cooler temperature wise.

AND I'm on Verizon!

Been using the new radio for over a day and have noticed the battery life seems to be much better.

It's from us cellular (hence the mention of us cellular in the first post ). It should work regardless of the carrier it came from as long as you have a cdma phone.

Whoops. My bad. Never heard of US Cellular before so I just thought it meant it came from a US cell phone company.
