It seems something about the way contacts are sent via exchange (maybe a security thing by my company) was causing it to crash.

So I synchronized my contacts manually (via my PC) and let exchange do the rest - a work around certainly... but enough to let me try out the new ROM properly.
Just so you know, it was the updated WM system files that allowed you to be able to sync not the TF3D or TP2 itself.

Re: Issues with Exchange and the new TP2 ROMS?

Doubt this is your solution, but check with your Exchange admin and make sure they aren't using the Exchange MobileAdmin utility to do a remote wipe of your phone. Once they put it into your account for that specific phone it will reboot upon downloading the command at sync time. If it was in there, then they need to deleted the remote wipe and then you would be able to reeneter your account setup and sync.

This is a helpful add-on to Exchange 2003 for when users lose their phone.

Re: Issues with Exchange and the new TP2 ROMS?

I once had a problem (long ago) that turned out to be some corruption in my mailbox. I had a few messages and appointments that were somehow malformed. Fortunately, I am an admin and I was able to run a repair on my exchange store.

good point...exchange/outlook store is..uhhh..not pretty. try running scanpst or scanost on your local machine (whichever applies in your local installation) and that may also fix your problem.

and now that we're on the subject of flaws...er...oversights in Microsoft’s choice of coding how much mail is in your cumulative mailbox by the way? 100MB? 1GB? 4GB? the less mail the better everything in outlook/exchange/pocket outlook/mobile and activesync will run.

in the end though.... i'd just wait. use scott's new, new, new, new rom if you're determined to get tp2. i don't like it much but scott is mostly focused on the verizon version of the phone so you can usually be reasonably sure anything puts out will work on your version phone... just a suggestion.

Wow, I guess DHarvey was right when he stated no one would read the readme file. I had to check the thread to see if there were some issues I hadn't noticed. But since I followed the steps I guess I never had any of these problems.

You should check with your IT department maybe they updated their securities and now you will need security certificates in order to get e-mail. This happen to me at the place where I work. Now everything works flawlessly. Every time I flash a new ROM, I always install the certificates which I always keep on my memory card and after that there are no issues with active sync. Also make sure when you choose the information you would like to sync only to choose you mail and nothing else like company contacts because that will take forever to syn and it will probably crash your phone.

Re: Issues with Exchange and the new TP2 ROMS?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I can get email no problem and my calendar - it only crashes when I sync contacts. Is there any way to check you contacts for corruption (kind of like checking the .pst file?)

I have installed the new contact card as well as all other patches. For now I will wait and hopefully this will all be figured out over time.

Thanks again!

scanpst and scanost will (attempt) to fix any corruptions in your entire store which includes eveyrthing outlook including your contacts.

That's good for Outlook clients, but he's crashing when he connects to the server directly with EAS.

Thats exactly right. It crashes when my contacts Sync with the server. As I mentioned before my email, calendar and task synchronize perfectly.

So I guess my question to any admins out there is what data within the contacts could be causing this. If it was a security certificate or the like then my email etc would also not sync.
