Re: Question about VZW TP

ok, can i just say that the signal quality on the VZW touch pro is TERRIBLE and UNACCEPTABLE. I can't even keep a 40kbps music stream going on my drive home, where I always had at least 3 if not all 4 bars on my samsung i760. I'm really hoping the diamond can hold a better signal, regardless of the amount of memory on it.

anyone else super frustrated?!?!

Gotta be the radio man. The TP is much better than my i760, especially with the Sprint 1.11 radio

So have you tried flashing the radio and it didn't help? I had to have my TP replaced and it was somewhat of a nightmare , I havent had customer service that bad for more than 15 years or so , so I wouldnt recomend it unless your sure it needs to be replaced.

Also have you updated your PRL , *228 option 2?

Re: Question about VZW TP

yep! I'm running the SSK ROM with the Sprint radio and it really just sucks overall for EVDO signal. 1x is no problem at all. I also did *228, but to no avail.

I'm about to find the VZW stock ROM and radio now so i can flash and take this puppy down to the store. I just have to think about how i can convince them that the radio is bad...maybe if I have zero bars in the store....

Re: Question about VZW TP

i just went to the store after calling data tech support last night. according to them, coverage isn't something that they can troubleshoot either over the phone or in person. so i have to wait till tomorrow now to get a replacement phone because they're out of stock at the moment. i'm really hoping its my phone that is defective. it seems like others are saying that their TP is getting GREAT reception.

as a side note, is there a known way to increase the buffer size in windows media player mobile? i think that may help to solve my problem with dropped streaming music while i'm driving...

Just make sure you reflash to stock and relock before sending the old one back Did you ever unlock your GPS? I know when I unlocked my GPS last weekend I immediately saw a 1-2 bar increase in my signal , I dont know why and lllboredlll made no comment about it but I SWEAR it made a substantial difference. Right now sitting at my desk in a 25,000 square foot metal shop/office ( always get poor service in the building) , I have 5 "bars" and can get a good 2 "bars" in the bathroom Used to be 1-2 bars in the shop/office and 0-1 in the bathroom.

Not saying for sure it will help you but it made a difference for me........

**EDIT** BTW forgot to mention that the only time I have had problems with the Windows Media Player "skipping" was when I had critically low RAM, if your RAM gets low enough it skips like crazy!

Re: Question about VZW TP

well...i thought that unlocking the GPS was included in running another ROM like SSK, correct? or is it a separate process/program i need to run?

i'll be sure to let you know what happens in a couple days when i get the new phone.

thanks for the input by the way...

No you have to unlock your GPS seperately from any of the roms. The GPS unlock is an edit to your Radio , it has nothing to do with the ROM. So on the bright side once its unlocked it stays unlocked no matter how many ROMS you flash except for the Carrier ROM, Like if you reflash the Stock Verizon ROM I believe that flashes the stock radio too and would relock the GPS ,If I understand correctly.....
