as a side note, is there a known way to increase the buffer size in windows media player mobile? i think that may help to solve my problem with dropped streaming music while i'm driving...
Just make sure you reflash to stock and relock before sending the old one back Did you ever unlock your GPS? I know when I unlocked my GPS last weekend I immediately saw a 1-2 bar increase in my signal , I dont know why and lllboredlll made no comment about it but I SWEAR it made a substantial difference. Right now sitting at my desk in a 25,000 square foot metal shop/office ( always get poor service in the building) , I have 5 "bars" and can get a good 2 "bars" in the bathroom Used to be 1-2 bars in the shop/office and 0-1 in the bathroom.

Not saying for sure it will help you but it made a difference for me........

**EDIT** BTW forgot to mention that the only time I have had problems with the Windows Media Player "skipping" was when I had critically low RAM, if your RAM gets low enough it skips like crazy!
