Overwhelmed w/Sprint touch pro, advice from the pros needed =)

I am very familiar with modding and hacking most things, but I am totally overwhelmed and do not know what route to go with flashing my phone with a custom ROM. Ok, I have read the threads about actually unlocking and doing the flashing . . . . . that is no problem and I understand that pretty well. What I do not understand however is things like these.

Should I upgrade my radio and if so which one for a sprint touch pro? Is there anything carrier specific I should be looking for in a ROM? Do I have to add any packages to make a ROM like mightymikes compatible with sprint features?

What is your personal recommendation for a sprint rom that is well featured?

I am asking because I have read alot of threads here, but just to read all of them would take forever since the mightymike thread is 375 pages long. Unfortunately I do not have 40 plus hours this week to put into doing the research and this is why I am asking for some help from some of the pros here. My phone has nothing programmed into it, I opened it up this morning and have not done anything except turn it on. No data to back up . . . where do I go next? Should I update the radio then do the ROM update?

I am looking for alot of features and a fast ROM like everybody I guess. Battery life is important to me too. A big thing for me is getting away from the windows mobil interface as much as possible so any suggestions towards this end are appreciated.

Re: Overwhelmed w/Sprint touch pro, advice from the pros needed =)

first first first step would be to unlock it. seems like the telus radio 1.04.05, the one i'm currently on, works pretty well. I suggest it. it gives a better signal. ROMs all vary, but since you're with sprint, it's kinda the main thing on this site. if you're interested in mightymike's, it's a good bet, i'm on it. but all the roms here have something to offer individually. so to get your phone on mightmike's working on sprint, here's the best startin bet for u.

1. unlock phone.
2. flash telus radio
3. flash mighty mike rom
4. install sms160 char (in first post of mightymike thread)
5. install mightmike's hotfix (in first post of mightymike thread)

all ROMs will have better batt life, and most will have some sort of screenshots to show what they look like....

enjoy!

Changed it to update my current phones . . . . . . . . . . Thanks alot for the advice, it REALLY helps alot, I am about to do the updates. Should I be doing a hard reset in there anywhere? Also, just out of curiosity is it difficult to remove/uninstall any added programs from these cooked ROMS? I was mainly wondering cause I kindahate internet explorer and was thinking that maybe if I install mightyrom I may want to uninstall it.

after flashing any ROMs, it's good practice to do a hard reset. (it won't erase the ROM you just flashed). to remove any proggies, install a cab of the program you wanna remove, and then uninstall that cab. but honestly, if you just remove the shortcuts to IE, you'll never even know it's there...

So after finishing the full upgrade I will do a hard reset.

Where do I find this telus upgrade to the radio? I cant seem to find the link to the update thread.

Do you have windows mobile device center for vista? Or activesync for XP? That will help alot.
