Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version
I'm still learning about all this (like what's the difference between a SYS and a XIP?) so please excuse my uneducated questions, but curious if anyone knows any specific/tangible differences between the various builds? Like specific features added/changed in newer builds, specific bugfixes, etc?
Or is it all just sort of "this one's generally faster/slower/buggier" because we don't have any official changelog info from MS? I'm trying to assemble some tools to try cooking myself, but it's difficult sifting through all the info to figure out where to start. (If anyone can point me toward a good post or two to read to get started I'd really appreciate it) What I'd really like to do for learning purposes is figure out what the absolute bare minimum required to make the device boot is -- not necessarily with everything functional, more like just a kernel with the minimum UI, etc... I'm not even sure if it's possible to modify the SYS on that level or if we're stuck with using each build intact as it is. So much to learn! :) --nomad_delta |
Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version
I think I'm done flashing for a while.
I have a Sprint TouchPro flashed with scroslers SSK 1.5 Kitched rev B & using CE build 20764. At this point, I really can't imagine how the thing could run any better. I have just about every app known to man loaded in the thing & it runs perfectly. The system is super fast & I can't remember the last time I saw any kind of an error. I can run it for a week with no reset if I want. WMwifirouter works great (I use my Ipod Touch for browsing at times), Arcsoft MMS works perfectly & so does Sling Mobile & every other of the mony programs/apps I have installed.. ~John |
Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version
I'll be the odd man out.
My vote gets changed to 20771. I have not had one crash or problem with it since I've been playing with the AT&T leaked ROMs SYS. Not only is it the most stable I've used it's as responsive as any other SYS I've tried. |
Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version
i'm pretty impressed w/20771 myself, been running it since friday w/o issue.

Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version
How would you compare 20771 to 20764 and 21018? Where did the 20771 come from? I'm thinking of dropping back to 20764 since that was the last SYS I have that came from an official shipping HTC release (Diamond WWE release in this case). If your 20771 is also an official release and since you have such good things to say about it, I may give that a shot as well.

Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version
The 20771 SYS I used was from the leaked AT&T ROM.
I only tried 20764 briefly since something didn't work since it was for a Diamond. I've not compared it to 21018 but since you asked.. I'd say it's just as fast. When I say fast I mean the responsiveness to button presses and menus. 21018, and 21015, didn't scroll as fast and 20931, 20771 is just as smooth. Flash my ROM and give it a try. You'll be impressed with 20771 for sure. |
