21018 is a legit release. The "patch" is due to the fact that the ROM that the legit 21018 was ripped from did not include the manifest files. A donor set of .DSM files (from 21015) had to be used so bepe's PackageBuilder could reconstruct the files into the folder structure we all think of as "SYS." Also, it was a WVGA release (800x480) so certain resource folders (anything with 800 and 480 in the title) have to be replaced with VGA resources (640x480). That said, I have seen three different postings of this SYS and one had a problem with .NET CF 3.5, one has that problem PLUS a problem with POutlook (and potentially other baseapps files). Here is the one I'm cooking with - so-far it seems to be bug-free:

21018 is not going to be the last 6.1 SYS. I currently have a 21027 that someone gave me. Said I am not allowed to share it. MS is planning on releasing 6.1 roms up until 2109X. so there will be more 6.1 roms on the way.

Just thought I would pass that along.

Just when I was archiving the kitchen... Would only consider somthing if it offered better performance than 21018 or same performance but newer PIE. Or 6.5 when someone tells me it is yielding good enough performance and the bugs (like camera, e-mail, texting, etc.) have been worked out.

Camera, Email and Texting are worked out in 6.5 lol. Honeycomb is slow. im working on finding the ClassName so i can use the scroll wheel in there though. then it will be good to go.

Would you switch to 6.5 for your daily use phone - if daily use means heavy use and heavy dependency on it being working and stable?

I know every one is after the latest. But I'm VERY impressed with 20771 so far.
I think it's just as good as the later build #s.

One slight hiccup and then it recovered itslef. 39% RAM used at idle.

It seems that 21028 is in deed a fake build. The last beta build that MS has at this time is 21027. So i am not going to bother with 21028 at this time. I will come back to it later. for now I need to track down 21027

This is what scares me about the pursuit of (newer = higher number = better). Glad to hear you have a way of verifying what's legit and what's not. I for one am not changing again unless something legit is released that meets my requirements (same or better speed with additional features, or better speed with same features).

Couldn't have said it better myself: I'm very happy with 21018!
