Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version

For you chefs out there who have been playing around with various SYS versions, I'm curious what version you think is the best. In my opinion, functionality (i.e. everything works - cameras, ActiveSync, etc.) is the highest weighted metric, followed by stability then performance. If you feel differently about the weighting, please say so in your post.

Please post the version number you like (or numbers if you wish to comment on multiples), where it came from (stock ROM for XYZ device on ABC carrier, leaked ROM for XYZ device on ABC carrier, Canal street, Beijing, etc.) and why you like it. Assuming I get more than a few responses, I'll try to keep this first post updated with the summary to spare folks reading the posts - but the reasons why will of course remain in the posts.

I'm starting with the versions I am aware of that folks are cooking with today - will add to this list as necessary.

Votes updated 4:30pm EST 3-Mar.

Votes Version
----- 19958/19972 (stock shipped VZW ROM)
----2 20757/20764 (most recent Diamond CDMA shipped ROM)
----1 20757/20954
----1 20765
----1 20771
----1 20931
----1 21009
----3 21013-21015 (possibly illegal or unreleased build with some WM6.5 code)
----4 21018
----- 21109 (possible hex edit)
----1 21139/21143 (WM6.5 - known bugs with camera, for example on CDMA Touch Pro and current OEMs)
----1 21159 (WM6.5)

FWIW, the stock Verizon ROM for TP ships with 19958/19972.

I'm not well versed on the sys's just yet but I have been playing around with cooking and watching your work closely. I just want to say if your planning on taking the recommendations and doing your magic with the winner can you please keep in consideration us Sprint TP users we dont need to be locked with such a small pagepool and all those fancy tricks you use to keep the ram low etc etc. Other than that thanks for all your hard work keep it up I look forward to using more of your stuff

I have'nt had my hands on most of those builds.
I tried most of those and you left out 20931.

Doesn't the OEMs and tweaks also have a lot to do with "Stability"?

I'm using 20931 with some Older OEMs from Calcu that have proven stable for me.
I've had a couple small issues but the speed of TF3d and the stability is the best I've had. (I've been cooking my own ROMS for months so can't comment of any ROMS from Chefs).

20931 added to list with one vote now.

Yes you are most definitely correct that the OEM split will affect the stability. Different kitchen creators split them out different ways, with different sources - and the variability here certainly affects both stability and performance. Ultimately, I'd like to find the "best" combination of OEM split-out and SYS for both stability and performance. I'm just trying to poll for opinions first on the SYS since I believe there should be fewer options there.

Thanks for reading and responding.

Thanks - When I create an XIP, I'm defaulting it to what I personally want for a pagepool size. But the readily available pagepool changer application works fine (except for the version 1E I did - no longer posted) - so you Sprint types can quickly change the pagepool to zero (dynamic) or to 24MB or 32MB. Also, I've done virtually identical XIPs for 20764 and 21109 (versions 3E and 2E in the XIP thread respectively). I may do another one if there is a particular SYS winner other than one of those two - my plan would be to take the same approach as I've done so-far: Recover as much memory as possible, leave encryption in (but defaulted to off), properly implement disk and file caching, and set (probably) a 10MB default pagepool.

If you have had any issues with either the fixed version 2E or 3E XIP and changing the pagepool, please post a question in the XIP thread and I'll respond there.

Re: Best / most stable / fastest / most preferred SYS version

I always build off of whatever the stock is....

Why? While some newer sys's offer new functionalities, it's not what SYS you use in a rom, it's what else you put in a rom that will make it sluggish/freeze/give you problems. And I know how to take out the sprint cr_ap that slows it down.

And by what else, I mean OEM's and registry tweaks. And by using the stock rom, I don't lose any functionality with the programs that the carrier provided.

So I vote for stock whatever that is. :thumbleft: I can make it run just as fast as any other, and it's been tested by my carrier for months to work properly on my phone...Try my roms...Very nice!

20765, 20761 and 20759 are very good builds.

20769 and 20764 are both junk, just how i feel, other like them, not me though.

21139 was very fast

21159 is very fast.

20959 was a good build, never released public though

But to be safe Stick with a 207XX build, you will be much safer, and you know what is there, because it is all official builds.

Well from my experaince i found the illegal build 21014 to be the best on performance, but 20954 was a very good build, and sys, i had no problems with it at all, pretty stable and fast.
