BINGO, the latest 6.5 beta has the known messaging bug. thefiverivers pointed you to the right place.

It was the first 6.5 beta that had the lock & camera issues... but it wasnt a soft reset, it was a hard reset.

Oh no worries mate! I didnt take it as rude. I just remember something about a reset so i put it down based off memory. Thanks again though!
