A question for the Chefs

I think I speak for many people here at PPCGeeks that the work you do to these ROMS is impressive to say the least. Just for my personal curiosity, what kind of backgrounds do you guys have in relation to creating these ROMS? Do you guys have development backround or just done TONS of reading and learned from other people?
