Touch Pro ROM Update on the way + GPS Fix?

We caught word just a few days ago about a HTC Diamond ROM update for Sprint and worldwide, but now it look like the Touch Pro is getting ready for one too.





Evidently, Alexandr Skaryd from XDA had a conversation with HTC Europe about the GPS lag problem. The crux of the convo is below:

Dear Mr. Skaryd I just wanted to get back to you in order to see if you have gotten the GPS working better. I would also like to inform you that there will be a ROM upgrade available in the near future (1.19). Please feel free to get back to us at any time if you have any further questions or queries. Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe

The bigger news is that HTC appears to be aware of this GPS lag and one can hope that this upcoming ROM addresses this problem.
In case you don't feel like waiting though, head over to M're undefined , who has a very detailed post explaining a "hack" you can do to improve your GPS. Not suprisingly, it partially involves turning off aGPS, amongst other things. Check it out, it seems to be working for folks.

HOLLY **** IT ALL MAKES SENS NOW!!!!!!!!

Ok, I have the ***** (VZW) version of the phone... We dont have aGPS! OUr phones are SPOT ON for GPS. I look at all the posts and say WTF are people talking about. This is more accurate than anything I have ever used.

Well, its the aGPS screwing the rest of the world! Holly crappers!

Damn, ever have an epiphany! Hahahah alooks like VZW screwed us but not really ;c)

Lets not turn this into VZW vs the world. I am simply telling you why I nver understood peoples *****ing about GPS. Its because you are all using aGPS and us on VZW are not! DING FRIES ARE DONE!

My aGPS is already disabled and I still have this lag. That said, my GPSMODE is 4 and according to this :http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=28049

That considered the most inaccurate..so I am going to test modes 1 and 2...

I feel like the abused wife that keeps going back for more. I have tried so many things, to get rid of the gps lag. This better work or else......:violent2:

Umm, the one showing below my name..... I've been using this tweak posted since I got the TP and it's not made any measurable difference. And before you say it is only for phones that are not on the phones intended network...you should read about it again. Either way, don't count on it solving the problem. If it does, great. Just saying that it has not for me.

I have Verizon and Sprint's Touch Pro's and there's no difference between the performance of GPS lag between the 2 :-)

Well thats good to know that its not only us Verizon users that are dealing with this lag.
