Thing is, nobody can confirm if the VZW's TP has a different gut than the rest of the CDMA world (except RAM size and keyboard).

I remember there was a post about those three things are in the same physical chip. Then again, if VZW decided to order something without FM, just like the rest of the CDMA world, HTC has to get a different chip, if not, a different design and that involves a lot of redesigning, this and that, which can be costly.

From a business stand point, minimum modification (GSM radio replaced by CDMA counter-parts) and left the rest core hardware in uniform, and leave the customization in the software part makes more sense than go with the hardware route.

My theory was, by disabling the FM radio, which is part of the GPS and BT chip, it somehow affected the performance. However it is possible that HTC know this issue, and quietly and secretly worked out with the manufacturer with that chip, with minimum change and quietly replaced them in the newer batch of phones.
