Re: ++25 Jan 09++ [VZW] SSK 1.2 - {CE OS 21109} Kitchen and ROM's!

Thanks for the help. I can already tell the difference with speed and memory between this one and 3.0.

Doing "Clear Storage" is the easiest way to perform a Hard Reset!

Or you can press and hold the center button and put your stylus in the reset hole. Continue holding the center button until the onscreen instructions show up.

Re: ++25 Jan 09++ [VZW] SSK 1.2 - {CE OS 21109} Kitchen and ROM's!

Has anyone that uses Live Search, taken the upgrade that is available after flashing with the version that is in the kitchen? (Probably the same one in the Deluxe addition too i'm assuming)

I've read other places that there was an update, but it wasn't that good... though the author of that post didn't give any real convincing reasons... so I was just curious if anyone here has any first hand experience?

I couldn't imagine why it wouldn't be good... but then, maybe that's why it wasn't the version used in Scott's Kitchen or ROM.

I just hopped over to their site and grabbed what I assume to be the lastest version available and installed on my device. Been able to use it so far without any problems.

Yeah... I didn't really think there would be any problems with it... I had just read that performance in the update wasn't as good as the previous version... but like i said the guy who posted that didn't really give any valid explanations of why the performance was bad. So I was just wondering if anyone had any hands on of a real before and after.

Did you have it installed before, or did you just install the new version fresh?

I tried the 4.0 update and had some issues, not with the software but with the install. On the SSK 1.2 ROM I cooked wth Live Search 3.5, Live Search prompted me that there was an update (check the Menu item on the main screen for update notification). I installed the update and rebooted, but instead of replacing 3.5 I had two copies, 3.5 and 4.0 on the device. I'm going to try again replacing the OEM with the new one in the kitchen and try again...

BTW, both Live Searches seemed to be working independenlty, so if you have the space, you can try both out for a while. A few things I noticed in the new version, Bird's Eye view on the maps, a new categories icon (but the icons are still small on a VGA screen), an autosuggest feature in settings (not sure what it autosuggests yet) and a Recent locations list.

Dan

Bad news all... Im out of the loop for the rest of the week. I will be watching but I broke my phone ;c( yeah, long story. Assurion is going to take place but I just blew the $50.00 it takes on the hard drive I bought. Which I need as well. Thats my luck!

Anyways, I will have the loot to pay them soon so plan on me not being online much. Too depressing not being able to play and only read ;c(

Ill let you all know when I get my phone again ;c(

-Scott

EDIT: All is well now! I got the phone replaced!
