First before you install this ROM download the attached PIMBackup and put it in your storage card . Next run PimBackup and choose to backup your contacts, ect. A .pib file will be in the root directory of your sd card this is your backup from PIMBackup . Next install the ROM after the initial screen setup two screens will open . The First will be Tautoinstall and the next will be PIMBackup . From PIMBackup choose restore then go thru the restore process then exit , Autorun will finish the first of customizations . Next the Tautoinstall screen will popup from there check any cab files you wish to install into the ROM, Click install PIMBackup will open again just close it from the task bar by holding down the Pimbackup task until the close menu opens , Tautoinstall will continue to further customize your phone then reset . Finally after your phone resets enjoy.

Re: JD's ROM 4.0

JD, is PIMBackup required? This Tautoinstall seems promising. First I have heard of it. If I understand it correctly, it will go to my SD card and find all cabs and xml files and will gie me a selectable list to choose which of those I actually want installed? If so, is there a way to have it look in a seperate folder other than the root? Is there a way to get around cabs that have pop ups during install?

I've have used it quite a few times in the past. It looks in a few locations one of them being \Windows. It also looks in a folder on your SD called Boot. Create that folder and put the cabs there. One thing I will mention is that the Tier Autoinstaller doesn't handle cabs well that require user input. You will only want to use cabs that require no input from the user.

This will kinda suck. Granted, I only have 4 or 5 apps that require user input. I like the fact that I would be able to pick and choose the stuff I want. If all the rom cooks ran this, it would help eliminate the multiple SDConfig files I have to seperate for each rom lol.

I have the omnia opera 15233 running. I also converted everything to a VGA skin just now. I am testing now. no Gsensor support. but it is one of the best builds out there. omnia builds always are the best.

I am heading off to bed soon, So I will upload the qvga cab, and then you can place the skin file into the skins folder. (Application Data/Opera9/Skins) make sure opera is shut down, it likes to run automatcally on this build, operaL.exe is located in the startup folder. you can remove that if you wnat.

make sure opera is not running and then place the skin file i have attcheced into there. Please note you need to use this skin folder, not any other older on. this one i have gone thorugh and added the missing icons and different features that are missing on the regular skin file. so please make sure you use this one.

let me know of any glitches in the skin file. also it will be great for another wanting to make an OEM out of this, here are the files. so enjoy everyone.

Re: JD's ROM 4.0

FYI - thread is titled with 4.0 and where you intend to put the link says 4.1. I don't care what you call it, I will flash whatever you put up anyway. I just wasn't sure if that was intentional or not.

Did anyone else's virus scanner detect the RUU.EXE file as being a Trojan?

My virus scan here at work reported it as a "Generic Dropper" and deleted it...

The exact same thing happened with my Norton antivirus.

Very nice update JD. The speed seems much improved over 3.3 in terms of keyboard slideout (one of the noticeable slowdowns). Additionally, the problem of the phone popping up during keyboard slideout is alleviated! Top-notch work!

Am I just really slow to realize that street view is now available for the phone? Seems pretty good!

Re: JD's ROM 4.0

Must say after installing this ROM I am totally satisfied with the speed and performance. haven't experienced any lag what so ever. Only problem I have is with the finger control of the System/Ringer Volume when you pull it up from the taskbar icon. When I scroll up or down it's not responsive at all. It makes the tone as I scroll up or down to increase decrease volume, but bars don't move like they supposed to. I have to use the volume up and down buttons on the side to make these adjustments. Has anyone else noticed this?

+1

The more responsive keyboard slideout was the first thing I noticed, awesome work JD.

Ok, after the initial flash, and running Tier Autoinstall, TF3D is not loading... just has the default wallpaper behind it.

Hard-Resetting right now, and will post the results.

Same happened here. But a hard reset fixed that right up. You should always hard reset after flashing a ROM. Should be a golden rule around here.

huh!!! If no one else experiences this then I would probably have to blame the custom icons i put on for my taskbar. I will hard reset again tomorrow and try it again.

gspitman 12-31-2008 07:02 PM

Re: JD's ROM 4.0

No dice for me, Hard Reset has the same behavior, default background and no TF3D.

Cabs installed on TAutoInstall:

Navigation
Picture Mail
BeeJive
Battery Icons from the root directory.

Any advice?

Re: JD's ROM 4.0

Also, my virus scanner at work is not letting me unRAR the custom RUU so I'm flashing from the SD card if that makes any difference.

Yeah, same here. I posted too early...

This version also seems to be slower than the last. =(

Going back to the old revision, glad I backed this morning...
