Re: [ 11-10 ][ v4.2 ][ 6.5.x / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual VGA Kitchen & ROMs

What manila file is the backdrop for the clock (the sense 2.1 black box behind clock)? I want to customize it a bit but don't have a ton of time to hunt it out was hoping maybe someone knew

Thx!

Are you sure that your phone is CDMA? I was under the impression that Vodafone was GSM... and this kitchen will only work for CDMA version (Herman).

Re: [ 11-10 ][ v4.2 ][ 6.5.x / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual VGA Kitchen & ROMs

I downloaded both the ervius kitchen by itself and the calkulins 4.2 kitchen. Want to get a good understanding of everything so I'm just playing with the ervius for the time being so I don't have to worry about all the other packages.

So, playing with the Ervius kitchen and improting the 28008 ROM files that DA_G kindly packaged up, you get just 3 categories or groups, XIP, OEM and SYS. What I'm wondering though is what's needed and not needed to get a functioning WinMo phone? I found if I mark all 3 categories or groups as enabled (True) then it will actually boot up and go through the screen configuration and launch Titanium. But are all those items in the SYS group really necessary? If I include a copy of Bing later, does that mean I can remove Livesearch? Can I remove Livesearch now or will it not boot up? What's really necessary and what's not?

So far, it seems like everything in the SYS is necessary as that's the only time I can get it too actually become a bootable ROM. Once I learn the process and get an idea of the process and how it works, then I will start playing with the Calkulin version of the kitchen. But I want to learn how to drive before I climb behind the seat of the Ferrari so-to-speak which is why I'm playing with just the ervius version for now.

You can't go wrong cooking (almost) all of the SYS files. You'll want to exclude SQM and autoupdate for sure (that's why there are 'dummy' versions instead).

Other than that, you can include and exclude once you get an idea of what the different packages do. Some are essential, some are not. Widgets, for instance, are not, nor is skymarket (marketplace) or skybox (myphone), or any of the mobile office components. But there's nothing wrong with cooking them in (I leave out Skybox since I usually cook an EXT'd version of the latest myphone cab), and you can always install other/newer versions of whatever's in the ROM without ill effects (other than internal memory use).

Re: [ 11-10 ][ v4.2 ][ 6.5.x / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual VGA Kitchen & ROMs

That's what I was thinking too. I've been building and rebuilding and so far I'm down to having just the following packages disabled.
ADC
AUTOUPDATE
Livesearch
MODEMLINK
Riched20
SampleMusic
SIM_TKit
SkyBox
SQM
VoIP
VoIPOS
Webview
WelcomeCenter
Which don't really seem like they would make or break a ROM, but it doesn't go past the boot screen. If I re-enable all those packages then it will boot up. Right now, I keep adding a package and building a ROM to see at which point it will boot, but I was hoping for a bit more enlightenment.

But then I also don't know if there are other things I've already enabled that I don't need.

Offtopic, can you post the latest EXT of My Phone? And Windows Live if you have it?

Thanks in advance,

23XXX+ builds Start Menu-button icons. Must have manila/sense enabled.

Off Topic:

Dwizzy good to see you around these parts still. I've not seen you in a while. You checked out the plethora of new ROMs out these days from new chefs? They put the old ones to shame I must say. No offense to anyone.
