Ok the kitchen was unpacked as it was just in one folder so everything in one folder on my desktop named C kitchen. Like stated before Option when attempting to pick option one to cook rom I get to next screen pic phone model next screen ONLY OPTION 3 works but IS till cna't open a rom. I read read read thru many many tuts spent 12+ reading I'm pretty sure I put the right files in the right folder still same error. I am using windows vista ulitmate and can load ANY other kitchen no issues

Ok this bothers me. You should not have to put anything into any folder. If you downloaded teh 1.3 kitchen, everything is there. Your problem is probably due to you trying to put sys files that might not be totally right. Download the 1.3 kitchen and everything is already there. This kitchen works, you are the only one that can't get it to work so you are doing something wrong.

Sorry do not mean to bother you. Im switching now to 1.3 but my problem lies with 1.4 and I'm just one of those people if its broke I have to find a fix. Again sorry but thank you so very much for all your help and time. I', downing 1.3 now

YIPIE! 1.3 loads fine for me.

Now not to piss you off but my quest brings me around in circles again. How can I use a pre-existing rom as a base? Or how about this I know this isnt a support thread I just need a bit of guidance so maybe a bit of information will make things easier on us all.

I want to use an already made rom as a base to build on but using the latest updates from the leaked sprint rom.

Should I would I be better off

1. Tearing that said rom apart and seeing the tweaks to it and replicating them in the new kitchen?
2. Can I use a program to compair the differeances?
3. run and use someones already made rom? lol " poor attempt at humor"

as i said, 1.4 is not a whole kitchen. it is there basically for the purpose you are trying to do however you have a lot to learn yet. you can't just drop in a sys to a modified kitchen and expect it to work without some modding.

now to your question. yes you can break down a rom if it's not protected. i am sure the tools are there in the 1.4 kitchen to do this but i have no idea how. again, you can find this out by searching here and XDA. you wont get much support for it in this thread because that is not what this thread is for. and didn't mean YOU bother me. i meant what you were trying to DO bothered me because it's obvious are still a noob like me and trying to do things you don't totally understand. you need to learn to crawl before you can walk......

Anyone else notice that communications app in ROM preview 1.3.1 (selected from the settings tab in the touch flo) has wifi toggle grayed out? Although you can toggle still in the touchflo comm manager

I have noticed this on other roms as well. It doesn't stay grayed out though. I am not sure what causes it but it's been functional usually so I never bother to mention it.
