Re: Sprint Users I need your help!!! Verizon GPS Discussion
I bought it anyways but am using the VZ Nav 30 day free trial and am hoping gps gets unlocked before I have to return the phone and cancel VZ Nav. I like the turn by turn directions ok, but the basic gps functionality with VZ Nav sucks. I like the device so much though that I will probably keep it or get a Sprint and bring it over to Verizon (I can't change from Verizon) if the gps never gets unlocked.

... unless it's a strategy to dissuade people from pursuing other solutions or competing carriers while Verizon drags their feet. Until they have actually opened it up, I will remain healthily skeptical.

Re: Verizon GPS Discussion
I agree with you on this. My guess is someone will have it unlocked before Verizon unlocks it for us.

Re: Verizon GPS Discussion
Hm... I'm excited for this, but it does seem too good to be true. I usually try to assume that Verizon is going to try and make money off of it. With that, do you think that they will open the GPS for all applications, for free? Or does this merely mean, if you decide to get the VZNav for $10/month, this will allow you to use their navigator application, as well as other software in conjunction? I hope it's the former of the two.

Re: Verizon GPS Discussion
That quote always reminded me of the automated response VZW reps give me when I ask them why the hell are they so slow to come out with the same phone Sprint has? "We make sure our phones are fully tested and up to our standards so there are no problems when releasing them" blah blah blah, stupid Verizon!
But I won't leave...

Quote:
VZ Navigator's inability to work with vanilla GPSAPI in WM 6.0 is due to their own greediness. This is what happens when one develops cruddy proprietary interfaces. |
