Re: [11/7] JD's ROM

I installed this ROM to see how it runs, and I notice when I am in portrait viewing a text message and then slide open the keyboard to type in landscape the landscape view menu with the 8 icons pops up overriding the screen; so then i have to minimize that menu to select text messaging so it will come up and then I can type. Any ideas on how to fix this?

It looks exactly like stock...doesn't seem to be much of a difference other than updated sys/xip and some of his tweaks. Which is perfect for me:mrgreen:

*bump* Is this a known issue or does anyone know of a fix to where I can go from portrait to landscape without having to minimize the landscape menu first?

DUDE DO NOT BUMP THIS THREAD FOR A ANSWER TO A QUESTION IF ANYBODY ELSE HAD THAT ISSUE OR IF IT WAS NOT ALREADY DISCUSSED SOMEONE WOULD CHIME IN ......... NOW IF YOU RECEIVE A TEXT AND YOU ARE ON THE TODAY SCREEN\ ANYWHERE IN MANILA IT IS GONNA DO THAT IT IS HOW IT WAS DESIGNED YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO GO TO THE MESSAGE (FROM MANILA) THEN MENU THEN REPLY THEN SLIDE YOUR KB OUT TO TYPE

or you could simply select the message so that you see the threaded message and then slide the keyboard open and then just type your reply

First, let me take this opportunity to say I appreciate your work. Second, it was kind of late in the night when I posted and this morning I was hoping to see an answer, so I bumped the thread (so it wouldn't get buried today) to get a response, and you jump up and down like I am guilty of a felony crime here. Third and most importantly, I am a noob at this stuff.. I dont know what is suppose to work or not and how. I try and do as much research as possible before asking a question to get an answer that I am sure has been asked before, but I cannot seem to find.

If I am in any screen on portrait and then open an email or text message, hit the reply button (to where I can see the cursor) then i slide open the keyboard and after a little delay the landscape menu pops up. I cannot hit reply and then slide open my keyboard or that menu pops up.

THREAD BUMPING CAUSES NATURAL DISASTERS AND SECOND TERMS FOR BAD PRESIDENTS AND YES IT IS A FELONY as a suggestion the next time you have an issue read from the last time you posted to see if it was brought up

my question is does this rom solve the annoying problem of when the keyboard is slid out, everything goes in slow motion for awhile. everyone rom cooked with the current Kitchen has had this problem is it's so annoying i had to go back to Stock. Which unfortunatly it works perfect in.

This is probably the most annoying thing when it comes to questions and answers for custom roms. Why is it that "noobs" get a new phone, don't bother to really use that phone and get a true feel for it BEFORE immediatly installling a custom rom without any idea as to how the stock one functioned. It makes no sense to me.....

Re: [11/23] JD's ROM

I'm gonna give it a whirl. I have your original rom JD.

I can host it on my server as well since most people will only get 50kb/s from sendspace.

I am still holding out for a stock Sprint signed rom before I jump on the custom roms. Plus using my own advice and getting a good feel for the Touch Pro in stock form so I know what and how it works before I go custom. I have been keeping up with the customs though so I know ahead of time who's will suit me the most.

Ok JD , just following up in your thread. Can you post what opera build is in this latest rom? :) Also, anyone confirm flash is working in it currently? If so I'm flashing asap. Thanks for the great work JD!

no issue here either this rom is solid.

Re: [11/23] JD's ROM

because it's his ROM and he likes it, I was wondering the same thing, but decided not to ask since we can just change it if we don't like it. I think I am getting used to the Sprint theme, or just getting too lazy to change it.

Lol yes I suppose it is...I like to flirt

What I ment was simply who's custom rom style mimics mine the most. Since most of the cooks design for themselves first and foremost, I try to stick with someone that would be more like me. After all, I am too lazy and retarded to make my own.

I have used JD's in the past for the original Touch and have found his to be very fast and slim. Since I am not upgrading to a custom rom until a signed stock Sprint rom falls out of the sky, I have the luxury of "flirting" :silent:

jakdillard 11-24-2008 03:20 PM

Re: [11/23] JD's ROM

for all asking the sprint theme doesn't depress me when i look at it like i have said before sprint did a ok job with this one

ruskiyab 11-24-2008 03:21 PM

Re: [11/23] JD's ROM

So is this SYS faster/better than 20931? In other words. Is it worth it to upgrade from 6.1? Will I really notice anything?

phaze 11-24-2008 03:23 PM

Re: [11/23] JD's ROM

quick question:

The thread on "flashing your rom" states that the last step should be a hard reset.

Is this really necessary?
