Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.3.3 Custom ROMs | GingerBread 4.24.651.1 | *Updated 7/2/11*

I'm having issues with HDMI output. I tried outputting last night and nothing happened. I got the HDMI icon on the phone and selected AUTOMATIC, tried 720p but none worked. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm using OMJ's latest ROM from 7/2/2011

Just flashed this and restored everything. But, I can't find any of the HTC Widgets?

That's because this rom is based off of the speedy (Evo Shift) ota which does not have hdmi. Hope this helps.

So I guess that means "NO HDMI" for now...

I also have the EVO 3D and that needs a special MHL adapter which after searching all over the internet I finally found for 16.99... It takes about 1 week to get it.. Hopefully it works... Sucks that HTC removed the regular MicroHDMI and made the MicroUSB also the HDMI output... Problem is you need a special cable/adapter which hardly anyone has yet..

Do you know if there is a Kernel or app which will activate the HDMI. I tried HDMwIn but that didn't work. EVO recognizes the HDMI cable and I can change the resolution but it just doesn't broadcast to the TV.
Any ideas would be great..
Thanks

Thats a good question. I am not sure but if you try a rom based off the rooted evo gb ota, hdmi does work. We have a couple here at Geeks. Fresh being one of them. I personally never used hdmi and prefer the sense 2.1 based roms. Good luck.

FYI, my Evo 4G died the other day and long story short, I upgraded to the Evo 3D. I've gotta say, in my opinion, the 3D is a huge steaming piece of c _ _ p.

In the 4 days I had the device, it rebooted itself no less than 18 times, possibly more (not exaggerating). I have since returned it and gone back to my trusty Evo 4G. Unfortunately it has the new boot-loader, so I'm stuck in bloatware land with the stock ROM. Looking forward to someone finding a root exploit for the new boot-loader

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.3.3 Custom ROMs | GingerBread 4.24.651.1 | *Updated 7/2/11*

just thought I'd drop by to say hello

I will not be cooking any new Evo 4G ROMs I would strongly suggest following Mik (amikam), as my ROMs were closely related. I see he has a few updates since v2.2, and I saw on FB he said yesterday:

Quote:
Mik3D Alpha will come later tonight... ported over sense 3.0 to the evo (not like a regular port, this is a port of just the UI and HTC's apps...)
More detal will be on the site in the beta sections soon.

Then my charge port broke off inside my phone two weeks ago. When my brand new phone arrived it already had the hboot upgraded to 2.16, and now I am stuck in stock ROM hell. For the record, your ROM is much more stable than stock.

So, now, as my friends frolic in the sunshine of your ROM, I wallow in the cesspool of bloatware unable to return to that happy ROM I once knew.

So damn you for your amazing ROM and diligence in updating, for your sense 3.0 perks, and custom bases (even if you didn't make them yourself).

I would say damn me, but I have already been dammed to stock ROM hell.

Woe is me.

(Hope to be able to root soon and return to greener pastures)
lol, sorry to hear of your rooting woes

for HDMI, I'd recommend finding a ROM that's not based on the Evo Shift....

as for the MHL port on the 3D, it sounds like it's a new standard, combining micro usb & hdmi, plus if u have a MHL capable tv, it will change the phone.

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.3.3 Custom ROMs | GingerBread 4.24.651.1 | *Updated 7/2/11*

OMJ - I am using this rom and *loving it*, thank you! Just a few issues, please help/address if you can:
  • No voice input - I noticed with the Nav I have (not sure if it was embedded or installed itself with the Maps droid app) the voice input option is not available. In fact, I have noticed the voice input is not available with other inputs I have used it with in the past (eg - Swype). Is there a quick fix or file I can download to fix this?
  • Lock screen bug - I have installed the fix file and it's still not working properly. Lock ring doesn't always take me to designated app/function, especially with phone - it always answers the call, even if "decline" is selected. Also - not sure if you can do much with this - upon unlocking the phone, it displays the native "accept/reject" buttons just long enough for you to attempt to push one of them, but by the time your finger hits the screen, the call has been accepted and the "end call" button gets pushed, instead.
  • Music player bug - Also - minor bug - very rarely, the non-HTC music player (is embedded via widget on one of your start screens) randomly starts playing.
What I love about this rom: very fast, great utility, love the screens, love the clock w/weather widget installed at inception (with previous rom I had to hunt around for a suitable widget for the home screen). Five stars ***** for adding organization features to the app menus.

Thanks!

Xan.

Edit: forgot to mention how much your phone utility rocks!! How could anyone offer a pretty phone interface that doesn't allow you to instantly add numbers to contacts, easily see your contact in the address book, find contacts by dialing their name from the phone screen, etc...? For that alone this rom rocks.

Edit redux: found the Google voice input plugin via droid marketplace & it fixed the voice input issue (for Nav).

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.3.3 Custom ROMs | GingerBread 4.24.651.1 | *Updated 7/2/11*

So my digitizer stopped working, just a tiny line near the top of the screen is not working. The rest of the screen work perfectly. For example on the dialer screen I cannot select the most recently called number by clicking on it I have to hit the phone button to dial that number. I am able to drag down the notification screen, so that tell me that the very top part of the screen is still working. It's only the thin line near the top. I called HTC, said it is still under warranty. They also said that the warranty does not apply if the phone has any custom firmware/or has been rooted. Does this mean I cannot send to to them? Or can I just flash a stock ROM and they will not be able to tell? IF I can just flash a ROM which one should I do?
Thanks, Bryan
