Re: [3-22-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc4][STABLE]

I'm getting huge fluctuations in battery life without doing anything actively different. It seems to be at random. I keep WiFi and GPS turned off and I'm not changing any settings. Phone sometimes stays warm while idle and (I assume) asleep, and it can get pretty hot when apps like the music player are running. Battery can run down by as much as 25% in just 1 hour of sitting idle, even after I kill unwanted apps like the music app. Then at other times it only goes down by 1% or 2% with the same level of activity, and the phone stays cool. Battery use stats always show "Android System" using far more battery than anything else. I have not tweaked any of the CPU or performance settings, and I did not have nearly this kind of fluctuation using any of the Froyo roms. Any ideas on what may cause this?

Re: [3-22-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc4][STABLE]

I was using the stock messaging app, couldn't find a block setting. I ended up freezing the stock message app and downloaded ''Handcent SMS'' from the market, that app has the option to block plus many many more options. I tested it and all works great now, excellent ROM, fast and glitch free so far.

1) GB RC4
2) GB RC4 Gapps
3) Dark Horse Theme
4) Dark Horse Gapps

I wiped Cache and Dalvik between #2 and #4. Everything seems to work great, including GPS with Google Maps and 4G. The only issue I found (unless I'm overlooking a setting somewhere) is that after flashing the theme, is when I tap the dialer it always opens contacts instead of the dialer. I've flashed alot of ROMs, from CM to MIUI to Sense and have to say that this particular ROM paired with the Dark Horse theme is by far the best I've seen! I really appreciate all you devs do, and am teaching myself ROM cooking, themes, APK decompiling, etc. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

I would try wiping cache and dalvic, also if you restored apps with Titanium backup that could create issues coming from 2.2. I had some issues and had to restore apps one by one.

Camcorder Freeze in RC4

Ran into an issue with the camcorder in RC4; it freezes up after 2-3 seconds of recording. RC3 didn't have this issue........just an FYI.

To block a number forever you do this...

1. open your text messaging app

2. compose a new message

3. in the "To:" block type in "9999" (minus quotes)

4. in the "body" type "BLOCK 9016" (again minus quotes)

5. Hit Send.... you should receive a message back like this "Text message from "9016" are now blocked"

I hope this helps you....tannerj

I am unable to locate a compatible swype apk for this ROM. Can someone please point me in the right direction or post the apk.

Thanks!
