Here is a custom boot animation for you. It looks a lot better on the phone than it does on the scaled down sample...

Tried your boot animation, looks good but its a little short. After it plays the screen is blank for a while until the boot finishes. Is there a way to extend it or leave a static image like the stock does after the animation until the boot up finishes.

I don't belive that you will find an "RUU" which will be rendered safe and will not overwrite your hboot version with a locked one. No "rooted" version of a rom is offical persay however they are unchanged before adding root user permissions therefore deemed as being "stock." You can try this one here [ROM] OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5 [ROOTED] [DEODEXED] [SIGNED] - xda-developers which is the latest "offical" release which has been rooted and deodexed.

Ok thanks a lot for the help. Let me ask another question. If I were to contact sprint service and let's say they do replace my phone. It will come with the most recent un-rooted release. Is there a tried and true method for rooting this release? Unrevoked Forever or something?

I just purchased my phone recently and it came on 2.2 just use unrevoked and you'll be fine. Im currently rooted using that method and flashed over to this rom

[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G - xda-developers Thats a pretty fail safe way to do it. Just follow the directions exactly.

Chris, regarding the rootable RUU of the shipped ROM you provide in post two. Will that flash over an unrooted and more recent version of the official ROM. Or will is see that the version on the device is already newer and abort the flash?
