Well this is working great, I went back and fourth trying to decide which froyo to go with but the wifi tether working for lower res camera for now seemed like the best option. Anyway a bug with froyo in general seems to be the ability of talking and surfing even when on wifi. Internet just hangs in froyo when on a call. I tested on this rom and my bro tested on his always been stock evo after doing the new OTA last night.

Modded kernels can be inconsistent.
You could try:
1-A different wireless tether version
2-Reflash the modded kernel ROM after factory reset/wipe cache and dalvik
3-Flash the stock kernel ROM then flash the mod kernel over it

That's where I'd start.

Another success story - thanks OMJ - now running 2.2 with new radio and wimax

wiped everything twice - installed new rom with netarchy's kernal
then installed radio then wimax

fully rooted and wifi tether works -pre 6

have most of my apps back - I really didnt rely on a backup because I wanted as pristene an install that I could get

sync'ed my contacts and calendars from Windows Outlook - everything fine

Thanks again OMJ and Netarchy

With Froyo we should be able to load our apps to SD card..am I right?
I tried manage my application and the button to move an application to SD still greyed out. Any solution?

The ability of the app to be moved is up to the app developer. Gotta wait for an update on their end.

I'd like to apologize in advance if this has been asked before, but this is a HUGE thread. Also the search feature isn't all that helpful.

My Camera is only 3mp.

Other then that, everything is smooth. No problems with 4G, no speed probs, etc.

I didn't try to Wifi tether (for free) yet. Is that working?

Thanks in advance.

Try the app from this post. Automatically finds the apps you have installed that can be moved to sd and does it for you. Cool app. Thank the poster from the link

Yes the wifi tethering will work on that build, and the 3MP is a result of the custom kernal.

I think OMJ should have stated this as a warning on the first post, along side with the "needed for Wifi Tether"

.

As is stated numerous times throughout the thread the 3MP is not accurate.
Some are reporting NO CHANGE in pic resolution and some say there's a SLIGHT downgrade. The resolution issue is temporary until the source kernel is released.

The flash order woul be ROM/radio/wimax.
OMJ has the ROM and radio packaged together so it does it for you. Reboot after the radio then flash the wimax update.

actually I did not include the radio in either ROM, instead I made the custom & stock kernel version...

When you dial *2 it opens a Sprint Zone app(?) Options include:
Call Sprint
My Sprint
My Phone
Phone Tips and Tricks

Pretty cool :thumbleft:

just downlod them, then moved to your root sd card then you need to flash them one by one from recovery like regular room

OMJ.. you rock.. thanks for the ROM and the great link to toast's root method..

I'm guessing from the posts there's an issue with the camera.

so is it just an issue in the rom you cooked.. or with the original? if I go back to the stock kernal you posted.. do I get my 8mp camera back ( from some of the other posts - there's some great debate that it's just being misreported).

primary reason for getting this is the BT dialer from my T1.. my state is starting to crack down on any use of the phone in the car..

Deodexed w/ modded kernel.
@dave-either kernel will give you 8MP IMO.
IF its critical for you then go with the stock kernel but wireless tether won't work.

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v2.1 | FroYo 3.26.651.6 | *Updated 8/3/10*

Quick status... running OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom w/ kernel
- WiFi tethering works
- BT works
- Camera max at 3Mp
- iHeartRadio doesn't seem to connect, will try same method as Pandora fix and see
- 4G works

Here's the weird thing:
Wifi tether Pre1 = 1.56mbps on 3G / 2.48mbps on 4G
Wifi tether Pre4 = 0.60mbps on 3G / 0.54mbps on 4G
Wifi tehter Pre6 = 0.89mbps on 3G / 0.74mbps on 4G

So, for now, I am using Wifi tether Pre1.

What about using PDANet instead of the internal wireless tether?

that's what I was using previously anyhow...

just curious.

the camera isn't too big a deal right now.. I figure someone will work it out. at least mine is working.. I've seen some posts where it's not working at all for ppl.. the fix for that seems to be uninstalling the LED feature from the marketplace.

So before flashing Netarchys kernal make sure your camera settings are at 8MP, because default is 3MP.

bravo my friend!!! I did some testing.....these are the pix sizes

-started w/ rom w/ custom kernel: 2048 x 1216 460 kb

-flashed ROM w/ stock kernel, changed camera settings to 8 mp...

-from rom w/ stock kernel: 3264 x 1952 1340 kb

-flashed custom kernel...

-from rom w/ custom kernel: 3264 x 1952 1437 kb

So it appears for now, the best route would be to flash the ROM w/ the stock kernel, change the camera settings to 8 mp, then flash the custom kernel

very nice!

Yup, wired tethering through PDAnet is fine.
The camera issue will be fixed once the source kernel is released.

Ok i have this latest rom and everything was cool besides the ghost screen touches especially with swype. But this issue is with the camera. there is an option in the camera settings for widesceen. the box is initially checked but when i unchecked it the camera automatically forced close and continues to do that even after a reboot. the strange thing is i can access the camcorder but once i try switching to camera it force closes. can anyone help me.
