Anyone have an idea? I am considering doing a nand restore of the prior version and making sure busy box was installed the first time around, but I am pretty sure it was installed the first time around.

I use the recovery that come w/ Toasts root....it may be based on RA, it's very similar but slightly different.

hold the power button, then hit reboot, then recovery....

no, you dont have to rename the zip...the zip file can be named anything...

yes, if u use clockworks, u can use the adv options to restore data

my ROMs already have busybox installed, there should be no reason to install again.

I don't know if this has been answer i read 10 of the last pages and didn't find this, but when using the modified sprint hotspot my 4g turns off and just scans and i have no 4g tethering. Should i just use wifi tether or does the modified sprint hotspot still connect to 4g regardless.

The PHONE restarts?? or the app?
This is a stretch but under Settings/Applications did you check Unknown sources?
If the phone is restarting your SD card could be fubared and need a reformat.

Which ROM? Wifi tether and 4G play nice on 3.8x

There isnt that much to know. OMJ already posted the 'slpaination and all you gotta do is flash the file like a ROM.

4g doesn't work on hotspot, use wifi tether

I also use the recovery that came with Toast's root, and it's the only thing I ever use. Not sure about the advanced recovery options in Clockwork, but the method that OMJ posted awhile back is what I use to restore data.img, and it's never failed me. I never touch ROM Manager or Titanium anymore. Just recovery, ADB, and NAND backups.

So anyway, this is definitely worth posting again... I made a couple edits regarding Calkulin's Clear Temp .zip, to be more efficient with data.img size. My edits are in bold.

here are some simplified steps....

-Copy Calkulin's Clear Temp .zip to root of SD card.

-reboot into recovery, Flash Calkulin's Clear Temp .zip, do a nand backup

-toggle USB, copy the fresh data.img to c:\sdk\tools (or wherever your path is)

-copy new ROM to sd card
(Optional: Copy Calkulin's FORMAT ALL .zip to root of SD card)

-toggle USB again

-wipe data & dalvik-cache
(Optional: Flash Calkulin's FORMAT ALL .zip)

-flash new ROM (DONT REBOOT)

-wipe data & dalvik-cache again

-power down

-boot into bootloader

-select fastboot

-from pc (usb cable plugged in still) type... fastboot flash userdata data.img

-when finished, reboot

**I always used to backup with both RA and clockwork. I would do all my flashing and wiping with RA then reboot into clockwork and restore data only. I would love to only use RA but is there a way to flash the userdata.img without a pc? Or more specifically with without using adb?

Thanks

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v3.8x | FroYo 3.30.651.2 | *Updated 11/1/10*

My wife dropped her EVO a week ago and cracked the touch screen. Although it had a case, the phone landed on the top right side and cracked the entire screen. The phone is still usable but looks like crap. I have the best buy warranty and sprint warranties (Best buy I need to research cuz I was told (should have read) that all I needed to do was bring it in and they would exchange for a new one.. THEY DIDN't. BB told me I was going to have to leave it and they would send it off to fix it.. Well I still need to backup and remove root)

Now to my question... Sorry for the long MSG...

1 - Is there something I can flash that will disguise the ROM's name and any other MODS to the system? I already removed Riptides Theme.
2 - Are there any particular Apps (other than obvious ones like Titanium, ROM Mgr, Wireless Tether) that should be removed.
3 - I'm going to take the sim card out. But if they decided to give me a new phone will it be able to use my current sim card without deleting or reformating it?

Anyone have any experience using the Best Buy Mobile Phone warranty claims on the EVOs... I'm paying 9.99 per month for the service. But now that I'm going to use it, I'm not to thrilled about having no phone for a few weeks.

Thanks
