Did you flash the kernel?

Battery life I don't see much of a difference than before. Camera.. uh.. Well thats a problem:evil4:.. I does only limit to 3mp. But I'm getting force closed on the camera. It ran for a bit but when I went to try and look at the settings I saw 3mp as the highest selection. I got out of the settings and FC... I might have to reboot cuz now I can't even get it to load up without going straight to FC.

](*,) Price we pay for BETA testing...

Just fyi Bro, I had to do a full wipe then flash the kernel to get the camera to work.

Ok I seem to need a tutorial also.
  1. I have rom manager but flashed the RA Recovery 1.7 recovery to do a NAND backup
  2. There are 4 options under backup Nand Backup, Nand+ext backup, Restore Nand Backup, Backup Google proprietary system files, Restore Google proprietary system files
  3. I chose the first which was just NAND (is this correct?)
  4. How do I update the kernel if I go to the 2.2 because I need Wifi tether and don't really need giant pictures for now although both would be nice.
  5. I've been waiting forever to upgrade...(TWO WHOLE DAYS)....I need bluetooth voice dialing....(Which Froyo has right?
  6. Who comes up with the silly names i.e. Froyo and what's the next one Cupcake or something for 3.0 lol

You just need nand backup.
Flash the kernel like a ROM. You may be able to flash it without wiping, normally you can but this one may require a wipe of cache, dalvik, or factory reset, or all three.
Froyo has bluetooth dialing, haven't tried it with OMJ.

It's a well established fact that wireless tether does not work for most atm
You can flash the kernel OMJ posted this AM it allows tether to work.

To be real with you i keep reading about this kernel but have no idea what it is and how to flash (well I probably know how to flash). Where do i find it at? And does it effect the camera as much as everyone is saying?

Ok, so after 8 hours of me at work, here is my phone battery status. This is without any kernel. this is with a couple of calls, exchange, and gmail and some text. I also played a couple of small video clips.

The change in battery is because I installed drop box to upload the pictures with. Guess it gives you idea of what 15min of use can do.

In that time I also did a speed test via flash.

I was having the same problem with wifi tether. I upgraded to new kernel and it works, only downside,, and the only downside is rear camera goes to 3m instead of 8. weird enough though when you take pics and compare them to before is seems like no difference. Just my two cents though.

I downloaded the new kernel and I still don't have tether?? Should I flash again or just let it go until a different fix is out?

It's up to you, how important is tether?
Took a FULL wipe for me to get the camera to work so you may be in a similar situ. I'd reflash first since it's the most harmless. If that doesnt work try wiping cache and dalvik (not factory reset) then reflash the kernel.
As a last resort do a full wipe-factory reset/cache/dalvik, flash the ROM, reflash the kernel.
No guarantees of course but that's what I had to do for the camera issue I was having.

Well tether is what got me into this flash rom thing so it's how I found you guys. I went with option last resort full wipe-factory reset/cache/dalvik, flash the ROM, flash winmax then reflash the kernel!

I am hitting thanks with the tether now. Thanks!

I can confirm voice dialing with bluetooth works.
I'm using a jawbone hero.
I'm not using the custom kernel, just OMJ's latest. I like 8 megapixel and can do without wifi tether for a night.
I'm guessing tomorrow OMJ, you will have your download record beaten with your next release.:headbang:=D>
