LOL. Thanks. It's a combo of a love of learing (and passing it on) and tweaking that does it. Through TONS of mods to my TP and now with the Evo, no, no bricks [knocks on wood]
I posted earlier that I did get a wee bit of sweat on my upper lip this AM when I applied a theme from 2.1 to Froyo. She wouldnt boot and wiping wasnt enough, had to reinstall the ROM. I really should've known better as the ROM was not deodexed but I HAD to know ;)
Honestly these phones are hard to BRICK (but not impossible). Most errors are fixable. I DO know of a way but I promised to use my powers only for good

I hear ya... I'm the same way with my PC.. Overclock, tweak, change stuff around, debug, a lot of late nites fixing stuff just cuz I wanted to see if it worked.. Just now I'm staring to get into the Android seen... I've been using a Berry for too damn long.. I can't believe I didn't have a smartphone sooner..

BTW... 13 pages if new posts I just went through... And my last post was on page 197 early this am.. I think it was about 2am... Holly crap, this PRE-RELEASE is a big deal..

This is Hillarious how fast these guys are. I kind of wish I had the time to be a dev. Maybe once I finish with my stupid MBA program I'll have time again to explore. I don't think I'm going to FROYO it until Wifi-tether gets up an running because I need it next week going on a trip and not really sure if the hotel I'm at is going to have Wifi. I've noticed the nicer hotels usually make you pay for that feature especially when the hotel is in the CBD. Such a weird coincidence. Motel outside of town = Wifi, Hotwire 4 Star rated hotel in town = noWifi. So if anyone gets wifi-tether working I'm jumping on board. After I broke my 4G and fixed it I think I'm ready for anything. I did my ROM manager backup. I did my titanium back-up which I'm still not sure about. Last step is to right down ever app I have and just redownload all of them.

I asked this on page 197 or 196 but since I've been catching up on all the chatter (Great chatter BTW...) using my data.img from a nand backup of 2.1 (OMJ v1.8)? Will it work after I install 2.2???? I've read some guys got all their stuff back. Someone posted only wiping dalvik cache and cache twice and everything was their once he flashed 2.2?

Any confirmations on that.. I really HATE having to reinstall All my stuff again..
:evil4:

Once you have your nand you should feel confident that you can get experimental and have that to fall back on.
Sprint has said this update will NOT erase your data-confirmed by a few posts I've read and as you said.
(Yeah I have NO idea how that Dude could do a wipe and still have his ish :dontknow:) EVERY chef says to wipe but you could always be a Test Pilot and just do it without wiping ;)
I dont know WHAT data Sprint was saying wont be erased but I DO know some of the system data from 2.1 wont work on 2.2 so I dont think the data.img is the way to go. Could be wrong.
I used Titanium backup for my apps, no biggie, installed all of them back in a few minutes. Contacts and Calendar are restored with gmail so I was all set.
In the end resetting up the ROM is a small price to pay for a seat on the Test Flight :headbang:

Just go to the market and download appbrain. Then go to the website, and click sync with appbrain on the app and all your apps show up on the website, then print out all your apps. Thats what I did just in case something goes wrong you know you have a backup to show you all the apps you have.

I wrote down my APPs in a spreadsheet... :evil4:.. Every app I've downloaded and cared just a little about I add it to the list. That way if I loss everythnig I can later go hunt for any app I might want. I only backup a few important apps. It does help to have the APK file handy for a quick install... Specially with all of the reports on the Market not working properly.. :disgust:
