So I don't know if this is a general error with the build of sense on the evo, or an effect of this ROM, but I'm having a really strange sense error.

It all started last week, I was on v1.7 of the ROM. I was doing something with my phone and suddenly it rebooted itself. I'm pretty sure it just rebooted android, not the entire system, as it went straight to the Sprint splash screen. I think I was using the browser, but honestly I don't remember. When the phone booted back up, sense reset itself a second time. After that, I went to hit the "home" button and I got the option to choose either Android Mate or HTC sense. I checked the "use by default" checkbox and chose sense, and went on my way. Since then, the phone will hold the default for a few presses of the home button at most and then give me the "complete action using" selection box again. No matter what I do, it won't stick to sense as the default. Since then I've updated to both 1.8 and then 1.9, and I'm still having the problem. I'm sure that people are going to tell me to do a data wipe when I update... honestly I don't want to. I'm sick of running backups and restores and putting everything back the way I want it... I just want this to work haha. The only thing that has worked is to uninstall Android Mate... which I could do again, but I do use it sometimes. Any other thoughts?

Dont upgreade to every new rom sometimes its not neccessary for you to even upgrade depending on if the newly implemented features are for you or not. So with that said, do a data wipe it is almost always needed. If you dont want to do a data wipe suffer your choice.

Yeah the only reason I was doing the upgrades was the hope that it'd fix this. And a large reason that I'm using this ROM in particular is the reported success of updating it without wiping. I should mention that after several updates starting with stock and never wiping, everything else works great. I was hoping that maybe someone knows where the default is stored so I could just wipe that away, because obviously that's what's really corrupt. If I had some way to uninstall and reinstall the sense home, I would... I'm sure that'd fix this.

I am asking this because someone might be also, when istalling a kernel did you wipe.
The reason for the questionis because the answer is not clear because some get boot loop and some dont; what is different? ( some wipe before installing new update and some don't)

I just flashed, no wipe. I've jumped back and forth between netarchy and the stock kernel a few times without issue.

you're not going to like this answer, but it sounds like u need a good wiping :laughing6:. It sounds like your /data partition may be corrupted.

I'm not an expert, but if you flashing anything that does not touch the /data partition, I see no reason to wipe. you can check by opening the .zip you are flashing & check for the Data folder.....is this case, there is not.

the deodexed ROM is for running themes. the 1.9 ROMs are deodexed too, AND include a theme.
