Find a post of mine with my sig and click the link for XDA Fix for SD and USB issues.
That may help as one, if not both can get knocked out during the root/flashing process.

very nice Dave!!!

Lemme guess, you flashed OMJ 1.7 ROM2? That would explain your issue.
ROM1 is the one to flash to get the proper OTA updates including but not limited to the latest wimax. If you flashed the "normal" way through Recovery and you didnt already have the proper OTA updates you didnt flash the right ROM.
ROM1 is in the PC36IMG format. It needs to be placed on your SD card (named properly) and as long as your Nand is unlocked the file will run. Dont know how you rooted but if you did Toast I AND II you are all set.
Read my post HERE to see how to verify you completed the root process.

Thanks for the quick reply winmo..
Ok, your right I went the ROM2 v1.7 route. I looked over your post about confirming I had full root when you check the hboot for the .76 and not .79... Well I have .79 which in your posts indicates I'm not fully rooted. But then I found another post (can't remember now where??) but it indicated another methoed to check for proper rooting. If I could load shell and get a # as a prompt, that meant I was fully rooted... Well, I followed that route... Cuz I got the # once my phone requested SU permission, I just granted it and the shell switched from $ prompt to # right away.

The only reason I didn't want to do the PC136IMG.ZIP and erase all my data and have to redo all my downloads and what not.

Question... Can I do the ROM1 PC136IMG.zip and not loose my present setup. If I'm currently v1.7 and everything appears to be holding and not crashing, do you think I will have to do davik and cache resets?? I really don't want to go through the hazzle of reinstalling all my stuff again.. I've done it 3 times already getting it just right... If there is no other way, then I'll just wait it out cuz my phone is really running GREAT.. I have everything updated except for the wimax radio. If wimax only deals with 4g, then it really wont make any sense for me to upgrade at this time cuz Miami doesn't have 4g yet..

Please let me know if doing the ROM1 I can avoid deleting and having to reinstall all my apps and setup again..

Thanks again for the quick reply..

yes, wimax is only for 4g, so since you're not in a 4g area, and everything else is good, wait for next release....but eventually you will need to flash ROM1 to get the proper ota updates. you definitely need hboot .76.

when u do take the plunge & flash rom1, backup everything u can using titanium backup, android mate, or mybackup...then b4 flashing do a nand backup. there's a good chance after flashing rom1 you can follow my guide in post #2 to flash the data.img from the nand backup & have everything restored. matter of fact, if u want to try this now you can and worse case you restore the full nand & get back to where your at now.

My pleasure.
OMJ took care of you other question so I thought I edjumacate you on this one :study:
The rooting of the Evo came in two parts. For clarity we'll just call them Toast Part I and Toast Part II.

Part I gave us root access but did not unlock nand so we couldnt write to /system or boot into Recovery without a computer. aka "partial root"
The Toast Part II gave us the 'keys to the candystore'. aka "full root"
IMHO now that we can have full root access there is only ONE root-full. However the terms are stuck in peoples brains and some (like you) never completed the process so we still talk about partial vs full root.
Having even partial root access will give you the # in adb, you just dont have full access to the entire system. So that's why you saw the #.

You also had to do the '$ to #' switch since when the 1.47 ROMs first dropped adb did not have root access by default. That has been fixed now on OMJ 1.7.
Hope that clears things up for you. Since OMJ rocks :headbang: you can enjoy whatever version you are on. Personally I prefer to (want/need/can't sleep unless I) have the latest and greatest

I had a problem yesterday, not sure who's fault it is, but my phone would not get text msgs and phone calls, but I could send text msgs, call people, and surf the internet.

The weird thing is I think the phone started working when I went into Rommanager, as soon as I got the superuser permission question, so...

Thx for the quick replies. Appreciate it.
Now to clarify both OMJs response and urs.

Do I still need to do toast root part ii? Or continue how I am now?
If I backup and try v1.7 ROM1 should I be good to go and not have to do toast part ii later?

Thx again to both of u..

Winmonewbie or OMJ

OK I started over with Whitslack to try to see if I could get 4G to work...it does now. :laughing6: Do I flash OMJ's ROM 2 now or would this mess up what I have?

Jim
