Im using the telus version. very smooth running rom, i like it alot, great work

A few issues:

- GPS is not finding my location. anything i should be tweaking?
-i used active sync to sync my gmail, google calander and gmail contacts. everything synced to the phone, but on the calendar tab it momentarily will show the little markers on the days with appointments but then they disappear. if i select a day i know there is an appointment on the day shows up with the appointment but within a second they disappear. If i go START> CALENDAR every thing is there and i can view all appoints. any ideas on this ? I created a test appoint using the calendar tab and its indicator mark also just shows for a moment when i select month view, but it does show up in day view.

-FACEBOOK, not sure if this is a bandwidth or facebook issue, when i update contacts picture using the facebook profile i have only been able to do it with one contact. the others will show a avatar with the F from facebook on it...

-on the today page: The bottom left says "SecondToday" It says it cannot be opened when i select it. what is it supposed to do?

Thanks again

PS i started from a stock telus rom before installing this one

Is there a place where we can vote for the best rom? If so, we've got a winner ourselves.

The Calendar thing has me stumped. I've never had that happen, but there have been other reports of this happening.

Facebook: Anyone have any ideas o this. I'm probably the last dinosaur left on the planet that doesn't use facebook, so I can't offerany insight to you on this.

Second Today: Now that I've gotten a couple of things fixed on my pc, I can edit my registry entries cab again, so for the next version, you won't see this again.

I tried your in Gadget ROM 1.95. Let me tell you there are a few problems with it. The screen locks up ALL the time. When trying to answer the phone, it won't answer with either the screen button or the hard button. Same thing happens on text messages. Then when trying to hang up a phone call, the screen blinks(blinks on & off) forever not letting you to hang up. At the same time the hard(Hang up) button won't hang up either. I do like the graphics, but the issues and Second Today ruin the ROM completely. I am off to reload my Sprint Diamond and get rid of Gadget ROM 1.95.....

Lots of other people don't seem to be having those problems, PhxSun. Sounds like you got a bad flash.

Gadget, TKG26 - I posted a solution for the calendar issue (that I got from someone else in turn) a few pages back. It happens with the location set to Canada. You have to switch location to United States, then the calendar works. No idea _why_ that's the case, but it is. I guess you set location to Canada for the Telus ROM (logical), so people who run it hit this bug.

To change location, go to Start/Settings/System/Regional Settings and change from English (Canada) to English (United States).

Gadget, if it's not too much to ask, for the next Telus build could you check if the calendar still has this bug, and set the default to United States rather than Canada on the Telus build if so? I bet it'd save a lot of people hitting the bug. Thanks!

edit: and maybe put the workaround in one of the front page posts so it doesn't get buried...

im looking forward to seeing what gadget can do with manila 2.5. gadgets 1.95 is probably the best manila 2.1 rom ive used so far. testing out the other 2.5 roms until gadget comes out with one.

I need to look into that. I hadn't really given it much thought since what I have been trying to accomplish is a ROM that is solid and stable, with good bells and whistles, but leaving enough room for user choice...

Re: 11-2 | ROM | WM 6.5 | Rhodium 2.1 || GadgetROM v1.95 || 21869

Dialer update: The skinning is about to drive me nuts with this thing. How it renders on a VGA phone doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and I have had a couple of issues with white bars appearing on a couple of the screens, and of course the text color not changing. One other thing I noticed, too, is in ging up on the Tachi dialer, we go back to the alphabetical listings on the side of the screen in contacts, weather city listings, etc, being a bit jumbled together. Couple that with the skinning issues and the mute call button not working on the full screen S2A, I am close to either going back to a stock htc diamond dialer, or going back to tachi and see if I can find someone that can help me run down the issues with the double taps, dropped calls and memory leaks ::grumble::

Latest sys: I flashed a test rom this morning and had all kinds of issues, access warnings, and the manila theme not loading properly. I haven't had a chance to see if I have a conflict with some of the ported apps or if the 21876 sys is buggy. 874 is not giving me these issues.

Definitely got that down. I've got another year with my phone so whatever you can do is great. I wanna figure out how to get Sashimi working too. That way I can upgrade ROMs easier. I'd love to be able to get a new version of your ROM whenever and have all my settings transferred with it.

Sashimi is nice and I know I don't even use it to the fullest extent of it's capabilities. With it, I was able to flash, load and test 6 versions of my rom in one day. And I've been able to build, flash and be back up and running after backup restoration and running sashimi in the time it takes me to get up in the morning, get cleaned up, dressed, etc and have a fully functional phone by the time I hit the office. Makes life so much easier...

Now, just to make sure everyone understands, it is going to take me additional time to get 2.5 ready to go. None of the existing mods will work with Sense/TF3D 2.5, so I am going to have to go file by file to customize this. Tedious, but well worth it...

This is the problem I have too as I posted a few pages ago. I also have the Telus ROM. Is it just that version? On the today screen it shows my appointments from the month previous. But the calendar in the start menu also works fine for me. I've set it to the left soft key for now until there's a fix.

Otherwise everything is working great! This is a very stable ROM and looks good. A lot of functionality and the battery life still lasts for a day with moderate use.

Well, first I'd suggest looking at the change log on post #1 and see what you like/want and don't like/want between 1.7 and 1.95. Also, if you are happy w/1.7 and are really after the Manila 2.5 experience, it may be better to wait a bit. Certainly, 1.95 has been a very reliable and useful rom for many of us.

Just my $.02 worth.

Well, I for one appreciate the thoughtful approach of thorough testing before releasing a rom. Seems there has been a lot learned with 2.5 and the other chefs that have courageously worked so hard to extend the functionality of our Diamonds. With that, maybe it's time to remind people to at least thank the chefs for their hard work, and if possible contribute to the development however possible.

Very true. Guys like Gadget are really making the Diamond a great device to continue using. Obviously a big shout out for the tf 2.5 vga port as well and their creators. Even 2.1 was a great step in the right direction and Gadget really took that to another level! At this point, I see no reason to cash in my upgrade for a tp2. Will hunker down and enjoy this final ride with the diamond...and hope that the hd2 makes an appearance sometime soon. Thanks!

I agree with just about everyone else on this thread. Gadget, you make an outstanding ROM. Every day we wait for your manila 2.5 rom to come out is going to be well worth it. Im currently back to 1.95 after trying just about every Sense ROM out there. They're all great, not knockin any of them. Just waiting for your next one!

I'm going to check with some other chefs on this, but I suspect their may be an incompatability problem with the applet, and either TF3D 2.1, or more likely 238xx+ sys. Remember, the update PRL & Update Profile applets were written for 6.1, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that it stopped working. Or it could be that I'm an idiot and goofed somewhere...

You don't have to update the PRL. One way to find out what you have it dial ##RTN#. It will be listed towards the bottom.
