Re: grooveROM 4 [Sprint] WM 6.1 and 6.5 versions [HD Manila & Manila free]
Just flashed to 6.5 but still too buggy. going back to 6.1.
Is there any chance Diamond2 Keyboard (http://www.everythingdiamond.info/) could be included? Well anyway, I'm downloading 6.1 version and sticking with that now. Thanks again.

Re: grooveROM 4 [Sprint] WM 6.1 and 6.5 versions [HD Manila & Manila free]
Well, here's a play-by-play of my first impressions of grooveROM 4 6.5 HD Manila version. I'm pretty sleepy, so some of this may be a little random!
Fast flash Rad new animated splash screen Slow initial boot Tap the screen to set up your Windows(r) phone, not Windows Mobile anymore Whatsup pea****? Holy long customization Alright, here we go Windows orb start icon seems to be squished horizontally Honeycomb is visually interesting, doesn't scroll very well ok and close button is really small Data works on Telus EVDO network Manila is nice, customized tabs without issues Love the look of the new menus, they don't scroll very well though Try to setup Exchange Server connection in ActiveSync Text messages in edit server settings? Odd... ActiveSync won't synchronize Can't exit ActiveSync, first hang, crap First reset button soft reset Slow boot again, get to enjoy the new splash screen Soft reset appears to have become a hard reset, crap Whatsup again pea****? Long customization... again Alright, here we go again Straight to ActiveSync to attempt Exchange connection Big zero, error code 0x80004005 Exited ActiveSync successfully this time Hung on Honeycomb, crap Second reset button soft reset No hard reset this time, but hung on Touch Diamond screen, crap Third reset button soft reset, leaving the battery cover off now Unzipping grooveROM 4 WM6.1, just in case Trying to launch TF3D, cycling from "Tap here to launch TouchFLO3D" to "Launching TouchFLO3D" TFd3D autolaunch finally failed Now all screen touches bring up the System Status screen except the Task Manager button and the Contacts soft-key, both of which bring up the Task Manager oddly enough Battery pull, hard reset Whatsup again pea****? Final attempt ActiveSync failed again, error code 0x800700E Played with Titanium for fun, works very well with DPad, finger scrolling not so much Couldn't figure out how to change background in Titanium, only managed to get a weird sea-foam green background colour after selecting a wallpaper in Settings/Today Bedtime, flashing back to 6.1 in the morning And so ends my initial adventure in the world of Windows Mobile 6.5 as I just can't live without my Exchange Server. I'm super stoked to flash the 6.1 version tomorrow morning, I'm sure I'll be posting a much more glowing review! Thanks indagroove, I hope you can find some useful feedback amidst my sleepy ramblings!

Re: grooveROM 4 [Sprint] WM 6.1 and 6.5 versions [HD Manila & Manila free]
Nice review Myke! I didn't have nearly the troubles that you did with active sync, but I don't use exchange, so it was never tested. The 6.5 is still buggy and beta, but you may want to consider a flash back to stock and then try again. Although the 6.1 is definitely faster and more stable, the 6.5 is good enough for me to use as an every day rom (at least for a bit..). All my contacts and calendar events synced fine, and I am sending and receiving IMAP from multiple accounts email too. No issus for me with SMS, except that it says "(null)" before each sms. I can live with that.
Bottom line, if you want something fast and stable stick with 6.1 for now. If you want to be on the cutting edge, and use a slower, buggier rom that's still functional go 6.5.. |
