Re: [062909] grooveROM 5 - CE OS 5.2.23001 (Build 23001.5.0.60) - [Diamond ROM & Kitc

Everything is running great but still getting that 10-15 sec text lag when exiting from a specific text back to the text inbox. I noticed this first on juicy and now on groove. I always flash to shipped, then to custom and then clear storage.

Re: [062909] grooveROM 5 - CE OS 5.2.23001 (Build 23001.5.0.60) - [Diamond ROM & Kitc

So, I'm uploading the new test rom and kitchen now. A few things about the kitchen (while I have the time):

- This kitchen is pretty new for me, and I am still somewhat of a visual kitchen noob. As always, I will do my best to answer questions, but I'm learning this kitchen as I go, so bear with me.

- This kitchen makes porting new builds from other devices relatively easy -- more on this in time..

- The kitchen has duplicates overwrite feature, so you won't get BuildOS duplicate errors, but what this also means is that if you do have duplicates, the first in the chain will get overwritten by the last. There's an option to alert of duplicates, but you gotta look.

- This kitchen handles OEMs differently than older kitchens, so you can't just drag and drop oems from Calkulin's kitchen without converting. I haven't done much of this yet, but my understanding is that you drag and drop the old style OEM onto EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe in the kitchen, and it will convert for you. Then you put the new OEM in the appropriate sub folder of the EXT folder.

- To select or deselect EXT or SYS packages, just double click it in the kitchen, once you've got the kitchen running. Packages in the OEM folder can't be deselected, so if you want to remove any of them, you need to remove the package manually.

- To run the kitchen, double click erviuskitchen.exe and the kitchen will open. Then choose load rom in the upper right, and choose the latest groveROM build. This will automatically load the stock settings for my ROM.

- To build ROM, click create ROM in the upper left. Watch the bottom of the screen for progress. Once done, your new RUU_signed.nbm (the rom) will appear in the RELEASE_DIAM500 folder.

- By default, the ROMs are build with a 0MB pagepool, so be sure to change it to your desired PP with the PP changer -- I perfer 24MB. Then flash the rom with the Custom_RUU.exe as normal.

I'm sure there will be many more questions that are hopefully followed by answers. This kitchen is pretty superior to the older kitchens, but does have it's quirks. It deals with XIP differently than older kitchens, as it actually builds the XIP during cooking. My initial feelings are that this produces a more stable XIP, which is less vulnerable to the corruption issues that we are seeing in many current 6.5 ROMs. So far I've done about 10 or so flashes to builds in the new kitchen, without having to need to flash back to ship. That would be almost impossible with builds from the older kitchen. Other users of the visual kitchen have mentioned this same phenomenon as well.

It's just a simple .cpr edit of the titanium cpr file -- I only did portrait. Here's his post, but I modified his a bit:

I don't seem to have that issue. Did you restore any reg settings with PIM backup or something?

New ROM up (for Flashaholics only). This is based on the [062609] ROM, but built with the visual kitchen. Changed the calendar tab as described a few posts back. Also, changed PIE home page to google.com.

About the dialer, I too was going to mess with the template but instead grabbed the Peaster111_BLACK-CANVAS rev. 2 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...15&postcount=1. Funny part is that the call log didn't work good as it cut off in the bottom which I thing was the rev. 2 fix. Anyhow I went ahead and removed that theme from the add\remove and it said that not all was removed, so I though oh well I will have to install it again and live with it. To my findings, the call log worked normally now, and the dialer theme stayed as the Black Canvas one.

Oh and Groove, thanks for that new ROM.

make sure you aren't plugged into your computer. If so, unplug and soft reset. I've had that happen before.
