Re: HTC Footprints CAB for Diamond!Updated Feb 5th! Google Maps/Tomtom

Installed on the Touch Pro (Sprint) and I have both the newest Google Maps and TomTom for PPC.

It works great, thanks!

Can't wait for the full-fledged tabbed version of this.

Re: HTC Footprints CAB for Diamond!Updated Feb 5th! Google Maps/Tomtom

A question however though for those of you with TomTom (particularly the latest one with Picture support; i.e. TT7.915)

When I am in the Footprints app itself, and I click on the Arrow (for TomTom) it takes me to TomTom just fine and it shows me the location of my destination from Footprints.

So everything works just fine using that method.

However, when I start from TomTom itself (rather than footprints) and I go to:
Navigate To -> Pictures (once again from TomTom itself) I get the following message from TomTom, "No Pictures found". Is this normal behavior, or is something missing?

In other words:
Footprint can send the picture information (coordinates) to TomTom just fine and TomTom accepts it
However TomTom when launched by itself alone, does not see any pictures when you go to its built in Picture navigation menu item.

I have an idea about this but need you to verify since I don't have the software. I suspect there is a menu option within TomTom that allows you to take pictures. If so, those are the pictures that will work within TomTom. The other possibility is that there is a method within TomTom to redirect it's picture location to that of Footprints Picture location and DB where it stores it's information.

Right now, Footprints is capable of sending the coordinates to TomTom or other nav packages as it was setup to do that. But unless TomTom was setup to talk to Footprints, the other way around won't happen.

Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense and that's exactly what I was thinking as well.

I guess I was hoping that someone else has already come across this problem before and resolved the issue of where TomTom accesses it's pictures from during the times when its not communicating (i.e. receiving pics) directly with Footprints.

Guess I'll have to poke around and see if I can find out what the default paths are for TomTom's pic directory and see if I can somehow redirect it to obtain the images from Footprints dir.

Also, as for TomTom, it doesn't have a built in camera app, at least not one that Im aware of.

Problem is, the TF3D implementation hasn't been finished.

Thanks for this info... when i click on the thumbnail pics it does take me to the coordinates on google maps...so i guess i have it installed correctly.

Another thing to remember is that Footprints stores it's coordinates within a separate DB file rather then within the pictures header. So even if you are able to direct TomTom to where the Footprint pictures are located, it may not be able to obtain the coordinates because they aren't part of the picture.

Kinda depends on how TomTom (or others) stores the coordinates. My opinion, they should be stored within the header portion of the image so that you can send the picture to someone and they could also have the coordinates of the pictures location.

Just got the .9196 version of TomTom. It is so fast compared to previous versions. If you are a TomTom user and haven't got this version yet I recommend it.

This may be a really dumb question, but are you just supposed to rename and remove .zip (leaving the .cab extension)? I did this and transferred the cab to my phone, but when I go to install it is unsuccessful. Thanks!

Have a look at this page at TomTom support: http://uk.support.tomtom.com/cgi-bin...i=&p_topview=1

It seems that TomTom looks for geo-tagged pictures in
