Re: Cellular South **Help Please**

You don't need a carrier cab with CS.

Re: Cellular South **Help Please**

Hey all, I have been on CS for almost 4 yrs now and have been flashing custom ROMS for almost 3 yrs. I can more than likely answer all of your questions.

For starters, the answer is YES. You can flash a custom ROM and use it on CellSouth without any problems. CS uses a very generic version of the Diamond software and there are "extras" installed that you would need. I have personally tested custom ROMs designed specifically for Telus, Bell, Alltel, Sprint and Verizon and they ALL worked fine on CS. The only thing you are going to find is that alot of the "extras" that the other carriers install (i.e. sprint tv, vz navigator, etc) do not work. But if you really want to be on the safe side or dont want to have unnecessary "extras", then stick with alltel because it is very generic as well.

Second, any of the Diamond radios will work, but my experience says that the Sprint 1.11.00F works the best. Unfortunately the stock radio is not available anywhere, as I have spent months trying to find it, so I dont have that for comparison. Not to mention that CS coverage sucks, regardless of what those commercials say, which means that you are only going to find a marginal difference between any of the radios.

I would like to know what the radio version is though. Phocas, if you could find that out for me that would be awesome. All you have to do is look at Settings>Device Information and see what the Radio version number is. TIA Phocas

If you have any more questions just ask.

I went from stock radio(v1.03.xx) to v1.03.25.18 with successful results, try it out if you haven't already. http://rapidshare.com/files/13375425...1.03.25.18.rar

I have built my first rom, not too shabby. I wanted something a little more vanilla than what traditionally offered. My question is though, can you take the .cab files and preinstall them into the OS in addition to what is offered in PPCkitchen? How about .net compact 3.5? What about settings like to advanced config?
Also, is there a windows mobile 6.5 theme editor? Or actually, what would you recommend for the today screen? i tried xbmod, nice app but i would like something a bit smoother

Thanks in advance

You can't cook in cab files they have to be made into OEM files. There are some really great OEM threads in the CDMA upgrades forum. I am using Titanium for 6.5 but right now I am running Mighty 4.8

Re: Cellular South **Help Please**

Search for the 'TUT' threads on building and cooking in OEMs.. it's not complicated.

EDIT: the radio never changed from 1.03.06F, because that's what it still is and also is the confirmed stock diamond radio as far as i know for cellular south. you might have better reception from the telus update, can my current one be dumped? i would assume not because it isnt available now from what i've seen

I have had a problem sometime since i started flashing, i cant seem to connect to evdo data anymore(only 1x). i remember being able to at one point, any suggestions?
