Let me start off by stating, for the record, that I consider myself a short order cook - at best.

Cook - give me a break

The only thing I can do reliably is fill in check-boxes and click green buttons. Everything else has a level of uncertainty associated with it.

My perception (not working knowledge, see context above) after following some of the threads; specifically the (Ameet, bepe, ervius, htctouchp) XIP porting thread over at XDA, is that there, at times, seem to be advantages to tailoring a base for a particular device. So, for the sake of gaining knowledge, not argument, can an XIP be stripped down, rebuilt or optimized to the point that it might be device-specific?
