It's not called the htc_diamond_kitchen first of all. Secondly, if you want to change it, learn how to edit the XIP, decompile it, and change it in there. It's in there so only people who know what they are doing (and could most likely do it themselves) are able to steal mine and others hard work.

Hi, i have a question as to how you would go about putting your name onto a kitchen rom, i like the one i built from the htc_diamond_kitchen, and it runs really smooth, but i dont want it to say c4rbon, i made my own splash screen and everything for it :) plz help

That's a great question.

If you downloaded a ROM which has some customization element that you want to change, the best way to achieve your goal is to contact via Private Message, the chef or cook who produced the ROM.

More than likely, the cook included the customization as a way of branding the work-product that they produced. In many cases the work-product isn't entirely new software, but it does include the effort (time) taken to (a) learn how to perform the changes and (b) to make the changes in a way as to arrive at a stable result.

So, when you post in the open forum that you would like to change the C4RB0N ROM by removing or changing the splash screen, the perception is that you may want to reproduce and perhaps publish the ROM with your own customizations, without giving credit to the original chef. This isn't a totally unrealistic conclusion, because if you wanted to involve the original chef, you would have posted in the ROM thread or sent a PM.

So, anyway ... blah, blah, blah ... the sound of my keyboard is boring me. I just thought a little bit of background on the issue might help you to understand.

Best regards,

You can do it with basic registry edits.

Mostly Microsofts, but thanks for trying to take a hit at one of the biggest players in this forum:)

That registry setting is set in a mxip*.provxml file. If no one has posted the file or the registry enty by the time I get off, I'll post it.

Here is the registry entry:
HKLM\Software\OEM
"ROMVersion"="RSTG_1.09_whatever_you_want"

And all this stuff is free, some may have invested some time in putting their rom's together...But we all pretty much use "free" components...

You can still edit the aku version, which is likely what the OP wants.
