The problem with your question is that these cooked ROMs are constantly changing and being updated. Changes are made, experimented with and then sometimes discarded or updated again. There are some things that are fairly consistent differences, like the scrolling bar/icon sizes mentioned by Mighty, but for the most part I could say "Juicy's does this, Juggalo's does this and Mighty's does this..." and by tomorrow the information could be just plain wrong on all three accounts.

Thanks again, but at the risk of being called "lazy" again - (and certainly not saying that you did not carefully read my post) let me repeat and elaborate.

I read through their respective posts. I have read Juicy's two threads in their entirety (these two most recent threads account for more than one half of all the posts, by the way) and I have skimmed the others (reading the initial screens carefully, then jumping through towards the ends). Being a relative late-comer to this game it would be impossible to really "keep up" and I just wanted to get a better sense of where the different cooks stand and what the thoughts and feelings were throughout...

When I read their features list, their history lists, and try to follow/keep up with the posts, it becomes impossible to keep track of what everyone's doing or done. Some do not post screen shots and others admit to using screen shots that use their "personal preferences" and don't actually depict how their rom "ships." Without even seeing what some of them look like adds another level of difficulty trying to "compare."

Can anyone who has been playing with several of them help with comparisons? I hate to sound lazy, but...

Thanks. I am not worried about "tomorrow." I plan to (try to) keep current going forward. I am hoping for a synopsis of "up to today."

Re: Comparison between roms?

has someone forgot to mention that there's registry different aswell......

alot of registry have been done to every rom which are not include in the stock rom version. registry like, tethering hack, or pressure screen, no sms notification etc. some roms have different registry than others. Juicy disable auto deploy on TF3d (but in its later rom is changed this option to auto)and is pressure sensivility is around 41, i prefer 400 (better for typing with resco keyboard).

Re: Comparison between roms?

I know what NewYorkLaw is saying ... I read and read and read those threads and am still left wondering about a lot.

If this is the first time you are going to flash, it's nerve-wracking trying to choose. I know there are those out there who don't have a problem testing a ROM and flashing 2 or 3 times in a day. I want to do it once and leave it alone.

I know what I want now after reading so many threads. I found ROMs that are close and since I don't want to attempt a kitchen on my fist flash, I'm just going to wait and see if it gets closer or if I can figure out how to make it what I want with CABs after I flash.

But it would be cool to have some kind of compiled sticky that is updated regularly ... I also think that is asking too much.

Was I rambling?

Re: Comparison between roms?

The user experience will vary from person to person and even between versions of a particular chef's rom. You really need to try a few and then decide for yourself. It actually doesn't take that much time with UC. By the time you read, post, read more, etc...you could have already jumped in. Are you going to be a geek...or not?

Re: Comparison between roms?

I do think a comparison chart of some sort of each ROM is not a bad idea, like SYS, available memory & RAM, extra apps installed or removed, manila changes, etc but just sticking with the specs, not peoples opinions, as those belong in the ROM threads. I'll be happy to provide info if someone wants to start making one

Re: Comparison between roms?

Yeah is would be nice to see some hard data on the ROM's and Build that are out there. I definitely think it comes down to preference and perception, but some numbers would give a nice starting point comparison.

Re: Comparison between roms?

Let me see if I can figure this out..... You want to be a geek by applying a non standard unsupported ROM to your phone, but don't want to put in the geek time to try them out.... Each ROM takes about 15 minutes TOTAL (including resets) to install and another 10 minutes to figure out if it suits your needs. The idea that we should expect the 'cooks' out there to spend MORE of their donated time to update yet another page with the changes they made so you don't have to 'waste' yours is crazy.

If you are upset that there is no comparison page, create one and update it yourself rather than just looking for the easy solution. The easiest solution for someone in your place is just to stick with the stock carrier ROM.

Either be a geek or don't be a geek. Thanks again to all of the ROM cooks, in addition to making my phone run better you have also made the ride a lot of fun.
