Can anyone tell me what the 3D and 2D enhancement cabs do? I noticed them in the cabs folder after I cooked my rom. I'm afraid to open the cab since my rom is working so well!

the 2d cab is basically the omnia drivers. it improves the 2d but i think it sacrifices 3d performances. im not too sure whether the 3d cab is the oem drivers, but yeah... calcu put the shortcut their so u can try it on the fly.

Re: [ Jan 6 \ OS 5.2.21109 v4.0 ] Calkulin's Kitchen v1.3, ROMs & Cabs

I've used both the 2d and 3d drivers, and haven't seen any noticeable difference in anything i've used. I think the 2d works a bit better for video / youtube / sprinttv. The 3d might be a little faster in the photo album / music player, etc where items are sliding to the background and foreground. but honestly, this XIP / SYS is so fast, i'm not sure anyone would really notice.

I'm using the Omnia 2d because i built it into my ROM, but if you're happy with the 3D, then leave it alone.

I've also switched back and forth with the cabs, and haven't noticed any instability, so you should feel free to experiment with them if you like.

Now that I've successfully built my own rom, I'm ready to tweak it some. I'd like to remove unused files from the oem and sys folders in order to further streamline the rom. Is there any problem with doing this? Will it affect the os in any way if I carefully remove unnecessary folders?

I still can't figure out what I might have done that caused all my notifcations (alarm, text notice, etc) to be turned off while on the charger. If anyone can suggest anything I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

You want to elaborate on your question?

Did you install the base rom?

Did you install the standard rom?

Did you build from the kitchen (custom rom)?

Best regards,
