Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Can you flash a new radio if you have already flashed a custom ROM? I have flashed KK's loaded ROM v0.9 (first time flasher) and everything seems to have went o.k. But, then I tried to flash a new radio (latest sprint radio) and it will not let me do it. It says the ROM to be updated is KevanK (not the radio).

Do I have to go back to the original ROM in order to flash the radio?

Is there an additional step that I have to do now that I have a custom ROM?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

this is the diamond forum, not the touchpro forum.
no you would not need to go back to the original rom. be sure to check the stickies on the top of the CMDA Touch Pro upgrades forum to learn about flashing radios as well as to get the correct radio to flash. You should not flash a diamond radio on the tpro. They have them packaged properly on the tp upgrade forum so you will be all set. good luck.

When you go through the Radio Updater, it acts as if it updates the ROM, meaning, you have an installed version, and then an update version....Just install the radio, it will not over write your ROM.

Used Sprint 1.11.00F since I had the phone. Didn't notice anything special about it. It did get particularly hot.

Went to Verizon's radio and did not notice much of a difference. Maybe better signal, but it was inconsistent. Was also MUCH hotter when using apps like Youtube.

Now on the Telus radio and as far as signal goes, I'm getting a steady one. Stays a lot cooler for me as well.

The stock alltel radio is not available. I have sent a few phones in for warranty replacement with a different radio with no problems.

So I flashed to the newest 1.11.00F, and I have 0-1 bars where I used to have 3-4 bars. Is this power saving? Won't my battery die quicker as the phone will now be constantly searching for a better signal?

I don't use Altel, but is there a stock Altel ROM around here?

I know the stock Sprint ROM updates the radio as well as the rom.

The "bars displayed" is no real indication of service. I have had clear, un dropped calls with 0 bars, where as, I have dropped called with full bars.

Just try the radio, and see if it performs well.

Only the "shipped" rom versions have the radio built in. So far, the only shipped roms available are telus and sprint. You can get a stock rom dump of all the carriers, but that's without the radio. All the shipped and stock rom dumps for the diamond are in the sticky in the first post here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062

Ahh, I did not know that.....
I just knew my Sprint ROM had the radio!

Thanks for the education!
